Who else is still riding the high of Jason Garret being gone?

I didn't really want to start a thread on this topic, but I'm seriously wondering if anyone else is still feeling incredibly happy now that Garrett is someone else's problem?

It was obvious to most of us pretty early on that he didn't have the skills to get team over the hump so it was definitely one of the most difficult things I've had to endure as a fan watching him stick around year after year.

I know many of you are ready to give up on Big Mike already, but at least he has won a super bowl, and in my opinion, has a winning pedigree and understands how to put together a team. We need to keep an open mind with Big Mike at this point, last year can't be the barometer in my opinion.

I also want to apologize to my forum members who will cringe when they see another Jason garret thread! Bottom line, I'm still like a kid in a candy store knowing he's gone.

2020 version of me at this time - "Absolutely!"
2021 version of me right now - "Nope, we still suck."

Personally, I liked JG quite a bit. I was hopeful he's be around to lead us to the SB. Almost made it the NFCCG a couple years but AR... DAMN YOU AR! And The Catch. I mean, it is what it is. I am hopeful for the future but do miss JG.

GO COWBOYS!

I was glad to see him go. The thing I remember most about him is when he iced our kicker. I sat on the sofa dumbfounded for 15 minutes just saying over and over again, “he iced our kicker, he iced our kicker.”

I felt less happy about the change when I watched our current coach make some of the dumbest go for it on fourth down calls I’ve ever seen en route to a 6-10 season. On the positive side Jason Garrett is in control the Giants offense.

When has mike McCarthy built a team? He complained in gb about not having enough say all the time and all the credit went to that front office.

Also McCarthy was awful during games last year. Just awful.

I always thought Jason Garrett was a good person but as a coach? I wanted him gone since 2008....so from 2008-2019 was the first time in my life i felt so disconnected from the team

he was not a good coach he just wasnt, his decisons made me turn more than a few games off and sometimes skip games entirely......and nothing was worse than playing the packers when Murray had like 13 carries for 130 yards and they decided to throw the ball...or games against the lions being up big and throwing the football still which led to the lions winning

and losing 3 straight nfc east clinching final season game he shouldve been gone

I wish him well on his future but im happy hes no longer the coach here

Garrett was completely awful in NY, as he took over play-calling duties. It was another organization he had strong family ties too.

From what I remember reading, Judge the HC had to take the RG away from him as well, which improved them a bit, from being dead last.

Garrett wasn’t play-caller here since 2014, after Jerry completely banished him. He was effectively a figure-head. The problem of Garrett, was that Jerry took too long to take the play-calling reigns away from him and that was only when Romo had the opportunity to force it via the new contract he got.

Romo’s MVP season was the very year Garrett had zero say or input in the offense. Garrett didn’t even have Romo in game planning meetings up to the new contract.

If anything, Romo should be considered a legend simply on the fact he operated under JGs play calling and had them competitive.

You absolutely are ignoring facts and as many on this forum do! You possibly should quit basing opinions on emotions!

Big Mike has a record of 131-87-2 or something close to that, and he is among the only four head coaches (Tom Landry, Chuck Noll, and Bill Belichick) to lead one franchise to eight straight playoff appearances. In all time wins for leading the Packers, McCarthy is second only to Curly Lambeau. Lets also not forget that Farve and especially Aaron Rogers perfected his roll out of pocket accuracy because of Mike McCarthy's drills... To say that he wasn't an important component to building up some good teams shows your football IQ.

7-9, 4-7-1 (before being fired) and then 6-10 n His last 3 seasons as a HC...

Just to add a little context and show the trend ain't necessarily upwards.

But hey, winning championships ain't the thing in Arlington anyways, lol.

Go Big Mike!!

PS. I'm not a Garrett groupie either, lol

Keeping him for 10 years is the worst thing Jerry Jones ever did as an owner and nobody talks about it when discussing his biggest blunders. That was his biggest blunder.
100%, it's definitely one of Jerry's biggest blunders! I tend to form my opinion on facts, so anyone already labeling Big Mike a bust like Garret was is not reading the fine print. I have no issue giving a more substantial opinion on Big Mike after full training camp and season, but I have to stand in laughter at the ones already comparing mike to a dead possum in an attic! Once you back yourself into a corner with nut rolling opinions, you will end up looking like a complete idiot trying to defend em.. All you have to do is look at guys who shall go nameless that are the first to slam Prescott even though he is proving to be among one of the top Qb's in the game.
