Don’t give up on Connor Williams at center

Some Cowboys fans gives up on players & coaches too early. Although C.W. had few bad snaps I still want to see him play at center as he gets more practice reps to work on his snaps. I believe his experience playing at guard will allow him to take on NT/DT, and his athletic ability will allow him go pull & move in space for combo blocks.

Just like WRs works on catching the ball with the jug machine Connor Williams needs to spend extra two hours of his own time everyday working on snaps with the QBs & coaches. He will be ready next when they open the playbook more and teams can’t blitz as often.

Chances are Williams is gone after this season anyway. With how badly he is playing at center, I see little reason to continue this charade. Looney is waiting on the couch if something happens to Biadasz.

@PAPPYDOG I like Nucci as my backup QB if he builds on the TD drive into the next preseason game with two of them!

Get Rivers out of the retirement life or Foles if available.
No way Prescott plays a full season for reasons which are going to be pretty obvious when he starts stinking it up once again.
Bow tie losing speech times coming at a Cowboy podium near you!!!!

I do think he makes the squad man. Definitely worth continuing to develop
Granted it's against backups, but he does look pretty good.

I wonder if we still get a roster exemption on him.

He caught a tough break last year with no real preseason.

@Crown Royal how do you feel about Connor Williams at center?
Unenthusiastic. I didn’t pay much attention to his blocking but at his best he’s just an ok guard. The snaps obviously a concern - he snaps the ball like a guy who has never played center

I think it’s just a backup plan for Biadasz. My guess is if B gets hurt, Williams kicks inside and McGovern at LG.

My theory is that the OP is ALWAYS wrong so we need to find a veteran center for backup.

Repeat after me: They’re only playing Williams at center as a backup plan. They aren’t trying him out to be a starter there.

The only way Williams is the starter at center is if Biadasz gets hurt or plays terribly.

I think he’s been playing out of position for as long as he’s been here. He should have been funneled toward swing tackle. He isn’t strong enough to dominate inside and he might be more serviceable on the edge on a part time basis. He’s the weak link on a good line.

Possibly. I am hoping they they are looking at Williams to see what his abilities are at other positions, because he is a fairly weak guard, unless he’s on the move in space.

He’s a much better guard in this system than in the one before Philbin. His movement and ability to stay on his feet fit right in Philbin’s system.
