The erosion of the offensive line continues right before our very eyes: first Frederick, then T. Smith, Z. Martin, and Collins.....with no viable back-ups who can step in and be reliable starters. So much worry about fixing the defense yet the offensive line is ignored......great approach in protecting your recently injured, recently extended QB.

In fairness Biaduz and Farniok seem serviceable young centers and McGovern & Williams can play on the interior . Josh Ball fairly high pick would have been nice if he hadn’t been hurt in camp let’s see what he has when he gets back . I was a Rashawn Slater fan where the Cowboys sat in round one but can’t argue with Parsons if he can continue to climb.

So help me, if 71 can't go and McCarthy starts Steele over moving Martin to RT and McGovern to RG (ya know, "fantasy football nonsense") I'm going to FedEx McCarthy a box of hornets.

I hear ya. It is best to start getting Martin plenty of RT snaps now. As my lengthy post history on this subject will support, the existing tackle depth on this roster will eventually get Prescott hurt.

It's only my opinion, but I feel pretty strong about it. Lol

I said it before the draft that whatever the Cowboys get from Collins and Tyron Smith is gravy.

Collins didn’t even look good in the preseason action. People worry about Steele at OT. I don’t because there isn’t much difference between Collins and Steele at this point in their careers.

If Steele doesn’t work, there is Nsehke and Knight. And if that don’t work, Cowboys can move Martin to OT and slide McGovern in at guard. Even have Farniok and Ball.

Bears just drafted an OL in the 2nd and he just had disc surgery. The Bears drafted him knowing he had back problems in college. Apparently a different injury than the one in college, they say. Yeah, right.

Are you serious? I'll give you Tyron (though he seems fine) but Martin has started every game except for that stretch last year, and when they drafted they had a full bill of health on Collins and Smith (who actually seems OK after finally having the surgery). They absolutely needed help on a defense with maybe one pro-bowler out of 11 when they had a line with at least 3 out of 5 positions. Kind of just inventing reasons to blast the FO there Captain Hindsight.

I watched the presser. McCarthy seemingly had no idea when Lael would be able to return to practice.

He can barely move and looks terrible in preseason. I got flammed last week for being concerned. After an entire year off this is a joke. He needs to just retire.

Definitely been my stance from day one but a couple of posters whom I respect revealed credible stances on the impact of a pass rusher1 with regard to wins and losses so I guess I could consider DE/Edge as the 2A position chosen when roster building.

I remain a QB1 and LT1 as my 2 first priorities but like I said I can see the validity of DE1/Edge as a viable second choice to QB1 possibly. Not mine, but I can accept it provided that edge guy is as totally beastly at bringing heat as the LT is at preventing it.

Nsekhe will start if Collins can't go. That's why he was brought here. If Nsekhe falters, then the nuclear option would probably be to play Martin at RT and McGovern at RG.

Despite some getting down on Nsekhe for a couple of bad plays in the preseason opener, he actually was pretty solid, especially at right tackle.
He is a 35 year old veteran who looked like a confused, non athletic rookie.

Not sure what else anyone was supposed to think.

If this teams depth is tested, pretty much anywhere except WR......we are in trouble.

Has Martin "eroded"? He had one injury last year that kept him out of games but it wasn't a major injury, it was a calf strain.

If Steele has to play RT in this game, we’ll find out really quickly how healthy Dak is.

Did you see him in preseason? He has bone on bone in the hip according to rumor. He now has stinger issues. At least Steele is healthy (knock on wood) and can play.

Collins can’t even suit up. So, yeah, what do ‘at this point’ mean?

Bro,
You gotta go with your suggestion of Martin at RT and McGovern at RG.

Bowles is gonna bring extreme talent off that side that Steele can not handle.

Imo, IF Collins doesnt play, this is the only alternative.

jmo though, everybody's got one. Lol
