I know that training techniques and nutrition are a lot better today. There’s training techniques that athletes use today that they never used 30 and 40 years ago.
Innovation. Imagination. We always try to change it up so you don’t get stale. But there’s always something new here right. But there’s always some new protection pad material that absorbs the hit better. That’s why I don’t think it’s much different. In fact I think it was definitely hotter years ago. For that reason alone protection. But I enjoyed the conversation enjoy the game

Being protected today has nothing to do with the size and strength of players. Doesn’t look like we’re going to agree on much so I’m done. Would rather watch the game than spend all night with this.
It has everything to do with it. They don’t feel the blow of the heat. Like if they didn’t have the pads on , I just said the same thing LOL

Are you serious. What does commonsense mean to you. It’s instinct. Common sense don’t go swimming in a hurricane. For people surfing it all the time. Common sense is a just That feeling a sense. Tells you somethings wrong.
It doesn’t matter what it means to me. The definition is being able to approach and solve problems in the most practical way using less effort and resources to accomplish a task. It is the great equalizer in my opinion. It is the reason that a person with three expensive college degrees struggles to solve problems that is easy for another person that possess natural intelligence and problem solving skills. Some people have it , some don’t and having the ability to use common sense can never be equaled by a person that only has a “book” education.

I don’t understand that response. Even he hast to report an injury

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady played the entirety of last season with a torn medial collateral ligament in his left knee, according to a report in the Tampa Bay Times. ... Brady has not discussed specifics about the surgery, saying only it was "pretty serious."Jul 16, 2021

Yet he never made the injury report.

They think this will help their longevity career wise ?

I think there are some fake injuries for sure .

In years past the Union didn’t have control over hitting in practice how many mandatory practices players can have .

Now it’s so regulated when the hitting does start its painful . To that end I noticed the NBA let’s veterans sit out practices even games. At this stage his career in his 30’s what kind of drills does DeMarcus Lawrence need on Wed in a 17 game marathon ?

They are not stronger and they are not more athletic. Where did you ever get that from. Size means nothing.Tell Earl Campbell, or John Riggins someone’s tougher than they are
Oh brother, you can always pick a few players from the past. Yes I was a big fan of Earl Campbell, but you just happened to pick a player who has post football health issues. He would of been better off today with today’s rules. Don’t believe me, go ask him…

Name one starting 216 pound linebacker in the NFL? There’s no way the average weight of an NFL linebacker is 216 pounds. Most of them are 230+.

Keanu Neal.. But you are correct.. the average is much larger.

Hey I totally agree with that. They all would be better off with today’s rules. But that’s not the issue was it

bigger and faster is a far cry from yada yada yada
however the training guide lines are damaging the players

But - if EVERYONE is bigger and faster, doesn't that make it all RELATIVE? For instance, a high school baseball player can't hit a 98 MPH fastball - but the pros do it day it and day out ... just a thought

I'm always down to crap on the younger generations. S A W F T!!! Lol

I simply asked for opinions form those who have been around long enough to offer one based on first-hand observation. Thanks for going defensive and making it some kind of personal affront. LOL ..

Here come the boo mers talking about how great and tough they were. When they are the worst generation in history along with being the most entitled generation.

Completely erroneous observation. Boomers are certainly not the greatest and toughest generation - that is unquestionably reserved for the "WW II Greatest Generation." The worst, perhaps, because Boomers were the first ones to consider themselves above others en masse. Most entitled .. climb out from under a rock! What we've got going today with Millennials and successors is laughable.

BTW - we agree on one thing for sure ... Love me some Hennessey!

It's a joke buddy, you're the one who appears unable to handle a joke. LOL means laugh out loud. Usually when I am serious I don't laugh out loud.

Perhaps I'm so old that I don't know the meaning of your acronym at the end? I appreciate sarcasm, wit and tongue-in-cheek more than most .. if I recognize it.

Sorry, I didn't take it personal at all. I thought it was funny. Fair or not I don't believe they build them like they used to.

Is it just me or has anyone over the age of 50 noticed that the never-ending list of injured players on today's teams dwarfs teams from the past? I know the players are bigger and faster, yada, yada, yada but, I KNOW for a fact they don't hit any harder than back in the day. Heck, the rules don't allow them to ..

Why do these guys seem to run for the medical tent and IR at every opportunity? Pampered, been told you're the hottest thing since Tabasco sauce since you were 12 years old? Business decisions protecting the contract? Free agency and lack of team cohesion?

Love to hear your thoughts ..
The players today buy into the 'protect your cash flow' and don't make almost any decisions without the help of their agents. Obviously matters of the heart aren't in player's mind, but long termed cash flow is at the top of their collective lists. Football doesn't last long for most players. I'm sorry that such a grand sport has turned all into grabbing a hold of a career. Players now try to pad their stats and then cash in...
