dramatic changes did happen. thats why the owners and player union sat around the table and came to an agreement. Owners didn't want a run away salary (specially by a few big market teams) or similar to baseball or basketball. so they agreed to give certain percentage of revenue to the players and that's the annual salary cap (this year I believe its 198 million). so each team can spend 198M in salary on their players each year...that assures owners of a large percentage of the profits and assures players get money for their services. then the money or salary is devided between the players in each team based on contract and percieved value of that player to the team.....

so times have changed....it had to...NFL makes over $8B per year and its about to get to the 10, 12, 14 range..... so its not the same business that it was before, thus it can't operate the same way.....

why is it ridiculous to pay someone 40M....the goal of each team is to win the superbowl...and each team gets exactly the same amount of money to spend and those who can put the best team together end up in the superbowl....

I think its actually a much better system than NBA or Baseball, where Alex Rodriguez got 10 year 500M contract. all gauranteed.

Stop with this how much the NFL makes, what does how much a company makes have to do with the wages paid the employees? All those fast food joints pay those kids min wage all make billions.

The way things are done now is crazy, and these guys need to be thrilled to death, they make more in a year than the old timers made in a career. That is broke and needs fixng.

I worked for a magazine that had insurance available to it;s subscribers, how much they made meant nothing to me, why should it? I agreed to the pay before signing on, that was on me. If players don't like the pay then don't sign on.

Jealousy

What morons do not understand is that the players are not the fast food workers ....... THEY ARE the PRODUCT.

They are not the guys who are making the IPHONES ........ they ARE the Iphones..

So they are worth what the Owners pay them ........ if the owners could not make money off them they would not pay them.

I’m trying to think of another reason but I can’t.

So you are being interviewed for a job at a huge company...

you....so how much profit does this place make in a year?
interviewer....why does that matter?
you....my pay, I need to make...
interviewer.....excuse me but you won;t have to worry about that, have a nice day.

How much $$$$ any company makes should have nothing at all to do with the employees, they take what you pay or work somewhere else.

And those guys not worried about the money aren't nearly as good.

More people watch Alabama play than any NFL team.

Do people prefer NFL or college football?

A January 2020 survey showed that 13 percent of respondents very much preferred watching college football to NFL on TV.

How much do those players make?

Something could be done, the way things are now is crazy.

Nobody would play in the NFL they'd just all go to the MLB or NBA lol. It would destroy their sport.

Tom Brady a basketballer? Hell, a baseballer?

Philip "Can't break 5 flat in a 40" Rivers playing another sport, nay!

What about all those 300 pounders, what.....pro rasslin'?

Four year deals are not three year deals.
 you really don't know NFL...read my post again...the 2nd round and beyond deals are 3 year deals. EXCEPT for 1st round picks that are 4 year deals....the point being its a limited term deal, with hard caps....

Walmart's minimum wage will rise to $12, from the $11 hourly base it set in 2018. However, that is lower than the $15-per-hour minimum rate at rivals Target and Amazon.Sep 2, 2021

In before Alabama players start getting paid. Lol

So just how will that work? Everyone makes the same all 80 players? Do starters make more? Do all schools pay the same? How does Troy State pay anyone?

So when recruiting....

Scout....we pay more than Florida.

OMG, you don't even understand corporate world....think of a football team as a corporation...even corporations pay for top CEOs, VPs, and high end talent and then they have low end talent. so does an NFL team, 53 of their employees are football players and make x amount of money. then there are those who clean the place, work on game day, work in the food courts, work the parking lot, etc....so the cowboys organization has more employees than just those football players.....

the way things are done now, isn't crazy. its capitalism at its best..... they shouldn't be thrilled to death to make a 100K a year, while owners rake in 1B each.....the players understand their value to the organization and the organization success. that's what you don't get.....the players could have formed their own league, much like an employee owned company (or are you against those type of organizations too?). the owners tried to replace the players with inferior talent (no arguing there), with the replacement players and the quality sucked, people didn't watch and the league wasn't making money....or did you forget that....

so if I know my talent, what its worth to various companies as an executive, should I just be happy to take what company x wants to give me and not look at company z that may pay me more!?

you sold insurance.....so what? the money others make shouldn't matter to you...that has nothing to do with NFL and NFL salaries....why should it matter to you what they make?

and you agreed to the pay....good for you. what if somebody else wanted to pay you more? would you have said. no thanks. I am happy with money I make? perhaps you would. many wouldn't...

and if the players don't like the pay, they don't sign on...the fact that owners are willng to pay them, its called an investment, because they make their return on that investment.....and the owners collectively did come to agreement for what they would be willing to pay their football player employees.....what's wrong with that? the owners tried replacements...it cost them a lot less, but also made them a lot less....

you are utterly confused or just complainer.....I bet you went to school as a kid, in 3 feet of snow, walking uphill to and from school both ways and never complained...right?

Sure, just like any other business recruiting top talent. We pay more, or we give better benefits, or the weather here is nicer, or we'll match their offer, or whatever else. Presumably each school can decide for itself how much they're willing to pay players (or if they're willing to pay players at all).

Look at how they acquire coaches now; same deal.

No, you don’t ask directly. However, you do negotiate pay based on how much your individual skills are worth to a company.

And that’s the point. NFL players are getting paid the value that their skills bring to the owners. The owners are making a ton of money off the players skills, because their skills are worth that money based on fans being willing to buy tickets and merchandise and watch on TV, etc.

Both parties are benefitting. The owners have a right to try and make as much money as possible. Just like the players do.

the owners if they want, could let players like Mahomes or Rodgers or TJ Watt, etc walk. Nobody is forcing the owners to sign them. However, the owners don’t do that……. Ask yourself why. The answer is simple. Because the owners know or at least believe those players are worth that money.

if you want my executive talents in your company, you are going to pay me high 6 figure numbers.....that's what my value is....I don't care about what the CEO makes...none of my concerns....none of the players care what Jerry made....

its not about that, which is you missing the forest because of the trees...its about the rules that are in place and seemingly you don't like the rules...the rules say players get 47% of annual revenue in salary. and the rules say not all team revenues are calculated into this revenue total.....the rules say salary cap is 180M for 2021.....the rules say teams have to minimum spend 89% of their salary cap.rules are rules...the RULES eare based on contract agreement between NFL owners and player Union.....I am sure you followed rules at your work place. I am sure walmart employees follow rules and I am sure walmart follows rules that are set by law and the government in each location they operate...rules are rules.

and you keep focusing on the players only, where they represent part of the entire dallas organization...tell me how much does the Janitor for Dallas organization make....which is equivalent of the minimum wage workers at walmart..

now tell me how much do the executives make at walmart? those with special talent, more than bagging some items at the cash register.....do those executives deserve more than $12/hour? or do you have an issue with executive salaries?

you are totally lost son....you are flailing aimlessly....

That was so wrong it's comical. How many employees make even a tiny tiny fraction of what the company/owner makes? Dude, stop with your ....DUH!

My brother worked at an olive plant Early California Farms, they were a union. So they close down, re open with no union. If you wanted your old job back cool, as they hired new people. That is the world we live in.

I bet you didn't go to school at all amigo.

How does the CFL make it work so long?
