Reminders to keep your feet on the ground

I guess everyone thinks our ownership is doing a great job now?

Great coaching , great talent . Great chemistry. Great culture . What could go wrong?

Hey I’m excited about what I’m seeing too. Young players developing before our eyes. Defense getting turnovers. Exciting rookies and other young players with a bright future. There’s a lot of shine in the early returns and that’s good.

But we are less than 20% of the way into this journey. It’s way too early to know what this team is yet. Here are a few reminders to keep your feet on the ground:
  • When you are depending on a lot of young players, the opposing coaching staffs are going to have more tape to study and more ways to neutralize them. Patience required! How a young player plays today doesn’t guarantee that level of play every week.
  • Every game will be a war. There are NEVER gimme games in the NFL. I don’t care if it’s Tampa or Jacksonville- all games are winnable and loseable!
  • Every week presents different matchups- sometimes the matchups favor your strengths, and sometimes it’s the other way around. Every game is different.
  • There will be some unforeseen adversity- happens every year. Ultimately, that’s what measures every great team. Not how well you handle when things are going well. It’s how well you handle the adversity when it’s not going well.
Enjoy the wins! It’s been a great start. But fasten your seat belt. Just when you think you have this thing figured out- you haven’t. Enjoy the ride.

Ain't that the truth. One thing this team has that's been missing for a long time is heart, our guys have come together as a team.

Every week seems to be progressing in a positive direction at least.
This team is learning how to win, and shutting up all the talking heads about how good Hurts and the Eagles were progressing has been silenced.
Dont know what more we could expect from this team/roster/coaching/FO at this point.
2-1, and somehow this team beats the Panthers and we are 3-1.
Can the EGOS on this team handle beating the Panthers?

So I had to laugh a bit when I posted that, even at myself.
Out of the gate the good analysts evaluate who you have played and how you have won.
Bucs - L
Chargers - W
Eagles - W
Panthers - TBD
Just saying the game of the week is Carolina vs Dallas,, everyone is paying attention to this game, vegas odds setters are having a hard time figuring this one out.
Who ever comes out victorious in this game will be the talk of the town.

I said “enjoy the ride”. I was just saying it’s a long, unpredictable ride. Never said don’t enjoy it.

I absolutely don't think the ownership is doing a great job. They're doing okay. But the GM is still the same, so they can't be doing a great job. The coaching isn't great, at least not yet. But they're doing well. The culture remains to be seen and we'll see how it progresses through the season, but it is better than last year. They did make some positive changes in the off-season, like the heavy defensive draft. The team hasn't collapsed when a few players are missing. So there are positives, but I wouldn't say ownership is doing great. Not unless they make it to and do well in the playoffs and at least reach the NFC Conf Championship.

the fans? they dont play, their feet will always be on the ground now their heads might be balloons right now..

we need the TEAM to keep their feet on the ground and keep grinding..

fans are and have always been week to week overreactive whether its good or bad they exaggerate the situation. Its already talking Probowls, superbowls, talking trash about the next opponent who is 3-0. you know if we lose Sunday and look bad doi g it it will be back to hate posts, all the negative fans who have been hiding will come out..Jekyll and Hyde fans.

for me,

as long as the team keeps their head in it , feet on the ground , and make sure they respect each opponent coming up and do not look ahead we will be fine..

we have 4 starters coming back soon some others off ir that will bolster an already good team so the arrow is up , hard to not be a little extra right now :)):thumbup::dance:

that the best way to keep this team focused, there are many good teams still ahead and will keep their attention. More then those mentioned are threat to beat us and keep our feet on the ground.

Denver's playing well

Vikings are no slouch , pats wont lay down for anyone , and for sure regardless of the Steelers issues they can play defense and well coached it means they can make it an ugly game low scoring fight ..

our team has not arrived and add in the NFCE games , should be enough for coaches to keep the payers attention in the pregame film studies..

theres plenty to tighten and clean up on defense and STs for sure.they are vastly improved but still need improvement before they get comfortable..

Right now I just want to see this team string together wins and I look forward to game vs top contenders and by no means see them as loses but a great opportunity to show we are legit. I welcome those game and I sure as hell hope the Cowboys welcome those kinds of games because if the goal is to be a championship team you better be able to compete and contend with those teams.

I used to live/die by Cowboys games until someone put it in perspective -

"You are letting people who are earning more than you will ever have in your life affect you, and they will never know who you are."

Since then, I enjoy the games and football, but I'm not going to let it ruin my entire week anymore when they lose. It'll suck, then I'll go to sleep and move on with my life. Same as when they win.

All that to say - I'm going to enjoy the stomping they put on Philly, look forward to Carolina and hope to be 5-1 by the break. But if not, I'll be fine - thank you for the concern though!
 
We are simply fans. What we do or think has absolutely zero bearing on the results. We can pencil in wins, look forward on the schedule, etc. It makes absolutely no difference.

Bullet, while that is great and sage advice, I say balderdash!!! Turn yourselves loose in a SB fever pitch and the visual of his players carrying McCarthy off the field in victory and followed by off season hernia surgeries.

What Bullet suggests is saving yourselves from disappointment but if you are not used to that by now, you shame Pollyanna. So, he doesn't want you to get carried away and then come crashing down, come back here all pissed and rowdy and looking to take it out on your fellow members.

But I say get carried away because how often are we here? Anyone here think the defense would be leading the league in takeaways and picks after 3 games? Hell no, I am basking in that right now, not later when that might not be the case. But I am liking me some Mighty Quinn.

The OC, QB and offense look ready to take on any team and we are the most balanced team in the league. And we'll be getting back some missing pieces soon.

The one thing that gives me pause before sending my parade route map to the Dallas City Council is that pass D. Those 6 picks are butt savers and not every QB is going to serve those up.

Let me pass on some advice from one of the older members, wait, that's me. While I am not the oldest, I am the least deserving of reaching this ripe old age and let me tell you one thing I've learned, do not wait to celebrate, do not wait for it to get better because it might not. Happiness is hard to come by and find every little thing you can to achieve that and eat dessert first.

My criticism is for the Jones's. I am thrilled at what the players are doing. I have a right to my pessimism about Jerry and Stephen. Look at their track record since 1995.
