People keep mentioning other teams picking him up.

They watch film too. I don't know how any team can watch tape on Jaylon and think he can help them. Unless they are truely desperate for bodies

Dallas tried to trade him but couldn't. This means 31 teams weren't even willing to part with a 7th round pick. That speaks volumes.

Ok your right but remember this people get married only to realize it’s not working. People make mistakes in life, in business and in sports. The team had no idea that they would have Parsons on the team. Also if Jaylon blows a knee out Sunday, he is not just paid through next year, we would have to hold a roster spot for him. They made a huge mistake and realized that they need to get divorced!

Solid post PCF....some of the posts in this thread are just....kinda clueless. It's a business gents. They have MORE than enough man power to replace him and that 9 mil owed if he's hurt was bad biz too. The cherry on top? Holding a roster spot for him if he were to get hurt. This makes a ton of sense in every way but one: he was in fact a leader on this team. That's not conjecture or speculation. When I watched the game the other day who led the pre game huddle pumping everyone up? You guessed it, Jaylon was respected and if guys think he was discarded disrespectfully their could be a backlash. Hopefully this veteran staff doesn't make that mistake and let him down easy because no matter what some of you think of this guy, he was a lead dawg in that locker room. Again, I wish him nothing but the best and FWIW, I do think it was the right move. Big boy football........

While I like the “nobody is safe from bad play” perspective, he wasn’t playing that bad this year. Compared to everyone else, maybe. But he was serviceable and good for when Parsons/LVE or someone needed a break. Or if someone is injured. This decision has to have something else behind it. You don’t get rid of depth like that. Still gotta pay him anyway so why not keep him on the roster?

*edit: he also appeared to be a leader on the defense. He would recognize plays and formations and would call it to the defense. I saw it in some of their huddles. Regardless of how it showed on field, he could recognize the plays and was a leader. Weird thing to do…

Man o man been telling y’all we can’t cut him now because of the salary owed. Teams find a way to absorb cap hits if the player is under performing.

Somebody is going to sign him though, but on the cheap. I don't understand the dynamics of it all but I think if a team traded for Smith they would have owed him at least part of his 2021 contract money with Dallas? If I'm wrong somebody can correct me.

:muttley: Jerry must have finally saw this meme today.

That's a Madden play. LOL When you press the button to dive just for the hell of it even though you know you have no chance in hell.

The other one that was pretty bad was the one someone posted here with him jumping on the huddle long after the play was done.

Too many "I'm a leader" comments lately too. The kind of stuff Quincy Carter was doing in his last days, not only trying to convince us, but almost felt like trying to convince himself.

I wish Jaylon the best. This guy would have been a Hall of Famer if not for that injury. Life is cruel sometimes.

He'll get at least a season or two somewhere else. I think he has his business and merchandising down pat too. I sure do see him on a lot of stuff considering his "star status." He'll be fine life out of the league.

Going back to Quincy Carter and assuming that like that cut there's not something we'll find out later, this was a straight up ruthless Belichick cut. I hate to see anyone lose their job, but this season is getting better and better.

We have young guys fighting it out everywhere, and then we send a message like this (just like Belichick would) midseason about no one is bigger than the team or recent franchise history.

This is the year.

This is the perfect thread to update one's 'ignore' list. Easy to spot folks I wouldn't trust to tell me if the sun was shining.

To all the folks that think it's funny, I'd give $100 to see you get canned from your job and watch your co-workers laugh while you cleaned out your desk/locker.

Good lord.......

Not if the goal is to win a SB this year. For longer term success sure, but he could also be why we win a playoff game. What if coop misses a game? We could get thin quick if Gallup is gone. Unless it's a 2nd or better then you keep him and go try to win.

If Wilson continues to play well as the 3rd WR then Cowboys should entertain the option of moving Gallup but only if a team is willing to send back a 2nd in the trade. Wouldn’t go for anything less because most likely whoever Gallup signs with is going to net Dallas a 3rd or 4th compensatory pick. If you can’t get a 2nd for Gallup then might as well use Gallup as the 3rd WR and deep threat and then just take the compensatory picks in 2023.

I feel bad for the man, football is a ruthless business. Good luck Jaylon

IKR, if only they were paid 10s of millions of dollars to help them through these terrible times between jobs. How will he ever be able to feed his family or pay his mortgage/ car payment /utilities... God speed Jaylon.

Possibly. Nick Eatman mentioned a possible reason being wanting to avoid a potential injury that would have Dallas on the hook for his $9 million salary next year.

Any way you look at it, a waste of $7 million of cap space.

Yeah it wasn't smart. Hopefully we make better decisions moving forward. I have really enjoyed the way this staff has handled personnel for the most part. I'll give a pass for that first blunder as Quin had just got here.
