I wouldn't be surprised to see him sit out the rest of the year or even retire. Watching him avoiding taking on blockers made me think he wanted to to leave football looking "pretty". Good luck to him.

How long has it been since the Cowboys have made a truly *ruthless* roster move - to reinforce (or establish in the first place) the fact that no one's job is guaranteed? Of course, this can cut either way, depending upon the relative locker-room popularity of the player on the wrong end of the axe. Let's hope the team can move on quickly, with lesson learned...and that this bold, decisive action does not incite a mutiny or otherwise create distraction or dissension in the ranks.

So why wouldn't we trade him?
Please don't say he was untradable.

Although we knew he was overrated, he was one of the league's top tacklers on paper.
I'd think we could get something.

Can we assume he was butthurt over losing time?

I’m so confused to why they did it now and not earlier. It has to be something in the locker room that happened.

NFL is a risk reward business. They were willing to take the risk of him possible getting injured until they felt comfortable there were equal or better options.
I'm sure Jaylon would still be here if Parsons and Neal or other LBs on the roster weren't playing well.

Probably Dez a few years ago when there was no other real WR on the roster.

Obviously his performance fell off the map in recent years. Releasing him is warranted based on that. Good luck to him. Hopefully there is a plan to get Jabril Cox increased playing time going forward.
