Jerry Dumbo GM Jones...The gift that keeps on giving.....indigestion.

Bruce Carter, Sean Lee, Jaylon Smith, and Leighton Vander Esch all 1st or 2nd round LB picks with either one leg or no neck. Linebackers with serious college injuries that Jerry thought was a good deal to use premium round draft picks.

So the Cowboys Owner, GM, and defacto HC made 3 mistakes (draft, resign, offset contract language) with one player? Arlington Jonesboys at their best.

So he is getting about 5-6 million for the rest of the year

Of course, the Pack will pay him the minimum because Jaylen gets paid the same either way, as the Cowboys are on the hook for the rest.

yup.

brilliant move by the Pack.

not so brilliant by Dallas.

we are on the hook for 6.8 mill in dead cap next season.

So let me get this straight, LVE is mad at us fans because we are excited to let Jaylon go. All the while, the best Jaylon could do otherwise was the vet minimum!!

Think about that for a minute.

And as far as LVE is considered. I had to sit thru the worst defense I have ever seen the Cowboys play in my 50 years of watching them. Anybody is fair game!!!!

Did you forget when Kiffen was here?

Doesn't anything he makes offset against his salary due from the Cowboys, such that there is no reason for him to fight for anything over the vet minimum?

Yep. Unless someone was going to offer him MORE than 7 million then Dallas would have to pay the difference so Jaylon could pick anywhere he wanted and focus on winning (with winning driving up value).

For those in back..

There IS NO offsetting language in his contract that saves the Cowboys against the cap this year! It’s been posted several times already, yet people are still debating this on this site and others. The Cowboys are on the hook for his full salary this year, no matter what he signed for in GB.

Sorry.. just setting the record straight

I bet Jaylon could have made more if he had demanded it. Not a ton. But significantly more than the vet min type contract he's on now.

Dude, they were on the hook for the 6.8M if he was still on the roster. It's sunk cost. I don't know why you keep repeating this and are fixated on it.

What they did was avoid 9.2M in salary for next year. For a player who was not going to start for them, and would, in all likelihood, have a lesser role this season as Jabril Cox gets more integrated into the defense.

Not if he takes his 2021 salary from the Cowboys as termination pay. If he did that, he would be able to double dip instead of being bound by offset language.

Can’t believe his contract didn’t have offset language. What was Jerry thinking?

Have you seen the team this year? They are good.
