I think we’re a lot better than average and I don’t care what the stats or anything say.

Dallas puts heat on the QB and it causes problems.
we are good in some areas. work in progress in others. run defense is fantastic...great. gang tackling, swarming run defense. opportunistic in the back end with interceptions. pass rush is good, although today we weren't as good...but we tend to give up big plays each game, and not just one, but several. not sure why........we have to get that under control.....

and we will get Gallimore, Dlaw back. that's a nice boost.

Well, they shut out two of their last three opponents and racked up 11 takeaways in those three games. They haven't given up 300 yards in a game yet (obviously that will change tonight). Yeah, they played weak opponents, but they shut out the Texans, held them to 100 yards and took the ball away 5 times...and that Houston offense gave the Patriots everything they could handle today.
Bad form to reply to myself, sorry, but the Bills defense is certainly making its case tonight.

I thought Quinn had a poor day. Parsons should have rushed the passer after Jones went down. No way Glennon is running away from him. It would have thrown the tackle for a loop

Nah, as long as you don't do it for half a page, I have no problem with someone replying to their own posts.

Don't forget, the Giants played most of the game without Barkley, and much of it without Jones...and that scrawny little backup QB made our D look silly at times.

I think we'll be a better defense with the replenishing of our wounded players in the days and weeks ahead. Nobody knows how we'll fare vs. the elite QBs we'll have to face in our future contests. We'd be wise to add another really good CB, imho. If not, we'll have to take our chances with what we've got. We'll see how Kelvin Joseph does between now and then. If we're blessed, maybe he'll be a big surprise. Let's hope and pray we're up to the task. o_O

We may not be getting sacks. But the other teams are running these short predictable routes which our corners are jumping on. This is the reason why Diggs is getting these INTs and were getting turnovers.

If our passrush improves with Dlaw and Gallimore teams are going to hate playing us. We are the most dangerous team because were a well rounded team.

We’re aggressive blitzing and in the secondary so we will give up some plays gambling but we’re getting the turnovers and pressuring the QB.

We’re also missing 2 out of 4 starters on the D-line, our starting SS and our 2nd round corner who would be gaining valuable experience right now.

Also have a lot of young players and newcomers who haven’t played together that long and are gelling more and more every game.

The defense will absolutely improve, health permitting. It is already looking effective and is complimenting the offense. Today it helped the offense in a few ways.

ROFL.
It's week 5
You've beaten Herbert and faced Brady.
What are we even talking about??

The question for the defense is who will be starting in 5 weeks??
By the playoffs we could see:
Bossman, Gallimore, Watkins, DLAW, Jabril Cox all starting on that defense.

The D has far exceeded my expectations…and they should get better as the year goes on as they get more familiar with Quinn…

This is a great point. They’re still playing without DLaw, Gallimore, Wilson (though in fairness, I like Kearse better)

This defense is good and getting better, with more confidence in every game. As Quinn starts to trust Diggs and Brown more, I think he’ll bring the heat more often.

One unrelated thing I want to add here is that Parsons has looked much better at DE than LB. I’d rather play him there - he was disrupting game plans. Too often as a LB he just ends up falling back into coverage, which takes him out of his strengths.
When is DLaw and Kelvin Joseph coming back. Any updates on them or any timetables.

The supposed great Brown's defense gave up 47 to Chargers. We held the Chargers to 17 points and had 2 INTS.
We are probably a good defense. Not great but top 15.
But we still can improve as the season rolls on barring key defensive player injuries.

Agree 100% ......yards doesn't bother me as multiple chunk plays per game. Guess my question is why?

Chunk play, chunk play, Interception is fine by me.

Someone on the Game Thread asked..."why do they keep throwing Digg's way?", it's because Diggs is a Hawk, he gives the impression of separation and has elite closing speed. He will get it wrong at times, hence some chunk plays...ce la vie. Diggs will improve his timing and Joseph for Brown is another potential improvement. You dont win/lose by yards.

DLaw will make a difference too, like the Zeke/Pollard 1/2, having multiple pass rush threats keeps everyone fresh and everyone hungry.
