Anthony brown has been impressive. Toney had some very tough catches against him. Great coverage. I see the corner improving through our the year. This defense gonna take it up a couple notches before we get to the playoffs. Momentum baby

The difference in Brown this year and in the past is that he's actually finding the ball. It seemed like all the corners we had before getting Diggs last year, with the exception of Lewis, was great at sticking with receivers but allowing the catch because they couldn't locate the ball. That's one reason that Byron stood out. He wasn't great at interception the ball, but he could get his long body between it and the receiver at least.

This defense has made an identity out of creating turnovers at opportune times. We talk about Diggs and his interceptions but tend to forget that AB has two in 5 games, one being a pick 6, which matches the number of picks Jones has had in the last two seasons. Lewis also has a pick 6.

I liked Jones alot as a player but at his salary, would he be worth it in this scheme? I have my doubts. It was smart to let him move on. Who's to say Dallas even drafts Diggs with Jones on the roster?

AB should have 3 picks in last 3 games.

He dropped a pure gimme vs. Panthers.

I guess they knew what they were doing, he's kind of disappeared. I haven't heard anything.

There hasn't been any kind of "Trevon" style segment on the NFL channel or ESPN for Byron..

Would be good to pair him with Diggs. I wonder how he is doing in Miami now.

All I remember him doing was swatting down passes which otherwise could have been easily intercepted. Just so annoying.

Cowboys were committed to re-evaluating and re-emphasizing player personnel that could best produce turnovers; they placed a stronger emphasis on ball hawking
and they knew Byron Jones would never give them that.
And they certainly were not gonna pay him as the highest paid CB in NFL, as Fins did at the time.

- Byron's mentality is to shadow you enuff, to be close enuff to knock the ball to the ground.
Jones was a solid man-press coverage CB, but not one that is gonna change the dynamics with turnovers.

- Just as they have now cemented a franchise factoring CB at one side with Diggs, the second challenge is adding a second INT ball hawk/coverage
guy opposite Diggs. Hopefully between Joseph and Wright, we will eventually have that CB2 guy, and young bookend stud CBs for years to come.

I honestly don't blame Byron Jones. He had terrible coaching who don't know what the heck their doing. Drafting a corner and making him a safety was stupid. Easily with a team that was devoid of good corners.

Luckily, Rashard came along and placed him where he belonged. Marinelli was just as bad as Garrett. Both ran antiquated schemes and thought highly of mediocrity.

Agreed. Diggs and Byron would be a fringe top 5 cornerback duo in the league, literally nobody on this site would be complaining about that. And like you said it's not like Byrons money saved by not signing him went back into the secondary lets be real (i'd rather have no Crawford and no Jaylon and keep Byron in hindsight)

I liked Byron Jones.. Not his fault that he didn't have any INTs. He was coached badly and not taught incorrectly how to play corner. I bet that if he was still here this coaching staff will turn him into a ball hawk. Look at what they did with Anthony Brown.

Brown has been fantastic. We have purged a large number of turds. It is pretty obvious that the players that are here now are taking the game seriously. They look prepared. Players like Diggs have set the standard. They have been watching film and it is paying off. No longer are there bozos like Xavier Woods walking around clueless talking about how it's OK that they just gave up 40 points. A lack of effort will no longer be tolerated. Byron Jones is not only not missed he is not even remembered.

I agree. And as a fan you grow to like these guys like they are apart of your family. I love Tank and Collins. But man what a horrible return on investment….especially Collins…

I can honestly say I never got to the level of seeing any sports person as part of the family as that would require an emotional investment.
