Do we not think any team would be better when running as effectively as the team is now, or as with Zeke as a rookie? Did we criticize Aikman for having Emmitt? Staubach for having Dorsett?
Does anyone disparage Russell Wilson's Super Bowl seasons (winning 1) because he threw a low number of passes and relied heavily on the running game?
NOTE: Dak is averaging 33 attempts per game. In Russell Wilson's Super Bowl seasons he averaged 25 and 28 attempts per game
A few other key points …
1. When Dak has to pass a lot (40-50 times a game) it's usually because the defense sucks and we are trying to keep up or catch up from behind. It's naturally hard to have a high winning percentage in those situations.
2. Throwing less doesn't mean the passing game isn't carrying it's part of the weight. High QB & passer ratings are very much keys when the team is winning. Passing for 3rd down conversions is as well. Passing helps open up the run game (and the other way around as well).
3. The greatest Cowboy offensive success has always been when the run and pass games compliment each other.
