Yes I was at the Panthers game. One of the worst game experiences of all time.Yeah they beat the Packers 21-6 on 7 Boniol FGs earlier that season. I really thought the Cowboys had gotten their crap together that year when they clobbered the Vikings in that wildcard game. Emmitt looked like Emmitt that day.. But the thing that stood out to me was how bad Troy looked that year when Emmitt was not dominating. I think he had 2 picks and no TDs against the Pats and an INT with no TDs against the Packers.. Then of course that forgettable 3 INT 1 TD performance against the Panthers in the playoffs.. Though I can't be too hard on him for that one since I think both Mike and Deion ended up getting hurt early in that one. But that does remind me of how hard people are on Dak when he hasn't had good receivers.. I think those people should go back and watch how bad Troy looked when he didn't have good receivers.. QBs need guys on the other end to get open and catch the ball.. They tend to look bad when they don't.
Yeah I think Irvin broke a collarbone and would have been out the rest of the way anyway. I remember that as a silver lining...I mean, ya know..... Winning the next week at GB would have been a tall order regardless.
Another interesting thing about 96. Each conference championship loser didn't exist as a franchise two years earlier.
Jacksonville and Carolina became good extremely fast.
