Will that be the question at the end of the year?

Blake Jarwin will have 2 years remaining on his 24 million dollar contract and it seems that Dalton is a star in the making here.

Can we afford to keep both? Or would you cut Jarwin if necessary to keep Dalton? I do believe after two years into Jarwins contract the cap savings is larger than the dead money.

Jarwin is gone and Schultz is getting a big big raise. Can't afford to pay 2 TE when we have to pay Gregory and find new defensive talent.

Seems obvious to me, Schultz is now clearly the starter and Jarwin will either restructure his deal after the season and be released.

say good bye to Jarwin. his production can be found at minimum salary. another early signing based on nothing, perhaps potential...never thought he was good or going to be good.....

Dalton will be gone. look at the contracts Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith signed with the patriots. Schultz will at minimum be a 10m AAV contract.

I think Jerry will pay to keep Dak's security blanket.

how in the world can the Cowboys keep Cooper, lamb, Gallup and Wilson..its an embarrassment of riches that having a 160mil qb, 15mil rb , some highly paid OL, Shultz and jarwin to decide on and then on defense Tanks deal etc eating part of Jsmith deal as well..

im not sure who they can keep and how they decide who to let go,

better enjoy this season..its why most season are what one would call a "One OFF"

dont expect to have the same players year in and year out..we may lose Gallup and wilson..or move coop etc to stay younger and healthier who knows..big decisions coming..

now if somehow some of our payers do the Bucs blueprint and some of our high paid guys decide to rework their deals and take a real pay cut, like Big ben also did, not move money down the road, true pay cuts and unselfishly say only if you can bring back this core and add to it, they will make the sacrifice..

doubt it but hey, one can dream.

Tell Jarwin he has to accept a lesser contract or become a free agent

Wait is the salary cap going away? This defense still needs pieces, you sign Schultz you might as well send llocal community college kids out there on defense. You have to make the hard choices.

Close - it's getting larger. Schultz isn't going to the piece that breaks the bank.

He will cost 10M at least, he may even get contract similar in value to Hunter Henry. Some team will make him an offer that Dallas wont match.

i think Cowboys only gonna be willing to pay so much for Schultz.
Contrary to what some want to convince themselves about Schultz, he's not a perennial pro bowl type.
He's not one to juke, shake and separate from man coverage on a regular basis
.
- He's a product of the system that allows him to sit well in soft zone coverage and off play action fakes and roll outs.
I think he seems to be more adept at knowing how to position himself in catching in zone coverages than Jarwin.- and he's a more decent in-line blocker than Blake.
Because of that particularly knack for the pass game, in how he's used, he's become a nice security blanket for Dak.

- Dunno how much of Jarwin's recovery plays into his reps, but he's not as tough, gritty and reliable as Schultz
Assuming Blake will return to previous form, he has athleticism and vertical ability over Schultz, but i think he's soft and plays too much of a finesse element to his game.

- That being said, i think Cowboys are only gonna offer and willing to pay so much for Dalton, and some other NFL team will eventually over-pay for his services in Free Agency.
I could be wrong, we overpaid for Crawford and Jourdan Lewis.

- And there could be at least one or two players in our FA class that we will overpay to keep and at least couple or 3 contributing key FAs that we will allow to walk.
