Lol

Everybody’s career in the NFL is a waste if they don’t win a championship,

I was being cheeky. You assumed that a championship ring, or lack thereof, factored into my opinion on a "wasted career".

Sports history is littered with fulfilling careers without that crowning achievement. This mostly happens because that's the nature of competition. Karl Malone and John Stockton likely would have hoisted at least one Larry O'brien trophy had they not faced His Airness in two straight finals appearances.

But that's not really what happened with Dez and Romo, and we all know it. These guys were limited by an outdated playbook and offensive philosophy for their whole careers. Ironically, it was the gifts of players like Dez and Romo that kept Garrett's offense afloat and his job secure. Anyone watching the bang-up job ol' Red is doing in New York now can clearly see this.

So if you want to say that these guys raked in a lot of cash and therefore their careers weren't "wasted" then that can be your benchmark. But it doesn't really fit the context of the discussion sparked by Dez' comments.

These guys never reached their full potential, and to me that’s a waste.

Garrett was an average head coach whose friendship with the Jones family had everything to do with his extended tenure.

Dez was an elite wide receiver who destroyed a possible Hall of Fame career by being a loud mouthed punk and bad teammate.

I’d argue they reached their full personal potential. Romo definitely was an over achiever. And Dak set several Franchise marks.

But if there’s someone to blame for lack of more team success it falls squarely on Jethro who altered this entire era with puppetry coaching and front office debacle.

I remember a Bob Sturm article that showed that Dez (and the other Wrs) were running like 70% Go routes one year. If you remember, the offense at the time was flat until the 2 minute / hurry up drill kicked in and Romo took over with like 80% shotgun. That offense was a mess but put up yards. After that article, there was criticism and the next week it was leaked that Dez could only run a few routes. Who does that sound most like?

Yet another thing I dislike about social media. Dez should have saved that bit of information for Festivus and the airing of grievances. :p

Just sign this man as an assistant receivers coach
Why? Amari Cooper on one leg runs better routes than Dez ever could. Has more burst, consistently beats better DB's, is a better team player. Dez obviously can high point the ball better and is a better 50/50 receiver..but you don't need to be a 50/50 receiver when you run routes like Cooper..not to mention Coop isn't a little dude at 6'1 and around 210.

To each their own. Romo was an over achiever relative to his Eastern Illinois pedigree, and an under achiever relative to his perennial status of being a top 10 QB.

Not all top 10 caliber QB have championship teams built around them.

Romo only started what 7 full seasons. 4 of them playoff teams. 2 opportunities to advance to a championship game .

And if you want to blame coaching alone then share the hate as Bill had him on the bench for 3 years and Wade wasted a few years too if that’s your angle. And why I hold Jethro responsible.

And Dez is right. That's one thing about this team you see all of them hang out with each other. You'll catch Dak with Zeke and Blake Jarwin....you'll see Micah and Amari.....they feel like a unit. It always felt like it was Romo and Witten and then the rest of the bunch.

No cliques on this team. It's all for one and one for all.

That puppetry coaching stuff only happens if the coach allows it to. At some point you have to say no, this is how we need to get it done. It could've been JG was too close and felt he owed Jerry too much to speak up. I dont know, and I don't have specific references but any self respecting coach with a backbone wouldn't allow it.

So why isn’t Wade head responsible for his 4 years as HC with Romo. Or Bill for sitting Romo 3 years on the bench?

Puppetry coaching here had been going on well before JG arrived.

I didnt say he wasn't. I have my complaints with Parcells as well. He was a great coach, but made his own share of mistakes.

He probably is not wrong, but he needs to let it go, at the end of the day you either speak up in the present or ask for a trade, or your part of the problem to

It's over Daz. Here's the reality, you're a hasbeen. You're not changing history and you're in the history books as is.

No point in blaming folks.

Stop living your life in the rearview mirror and start using the windshield.
Amen…ain’t no future in the past.

Garrett was an average head coach whose friendship with the Jones family had everything to do with his extended tenure.

Dez was an elite wide receiver who destroyed a possible Hall of Fame career by being a loud mouthed punk and bad teammate.

Romo and Witten were also terrible teammates, especially Witten. Witten was a loud mouth on the sidelines, was as selfish as could be. Why don't you call him a loud mouth punk?

TO, Dez, Martellus all spoke about the culture but I'm sure you call all of them loud mouth punks and their opinions don't matter.

I am so glad the Romo/Witten days are done. They divided locker rooms. Dak and this group brings everyone together. There is no sides in there. Garrett was apart of that as well. I'm glad we finally have a QB who is a leader. Romo was too worried about his golf game, being some corny "hoops star", going to Cancun with his bff Witten the week before the Giants playoff game. Dak has a football field in his backyard and he invites teammates over to bond and work on their games. Romo was the exact opposite.
