The Vikings decided we weren’t going to run the ball against them, so Rush went 24/40, 325, 2/1 in a Sunday night, high profile game with exactly zero NFL starts under his belt. Wasn’t a HoF performance, but far from undrafted rookie to my eye.

It's a great team win but I don't ever want to see Rush again except during garbage time. His footwork, pocket awareness, accuracy, arm talent and toughness aren't indicative of a 5th year pro. He stinks.

Dez sounds like he’s still bitter about the way things ended for him with the Cowboys. After he got released he was calling out the team captains. He called Sean Lee a snake. He was blaming some of his teammates for his release. He said Jerry doesn’t have a clue what’s going on.

course to be fair, they also put a lot of time in to be handicapped by a WR who wouldn't diversify his skills to fit the playbook.

They didn't require him to, other players have said that Garrett put players in a box for what they do great and never let them grow from that. They knew Dez's background when they drafted him, why didn't he demand that Dez work on his route running in the off-season? What would Pacells, Belicheck or Jimmy do? They were just happy with what Dez brought to the table and Dez was like "if they're happy then I'm happy.

A better head coach would've figured out a way to make Dez grow beyond what he was when he came out of Oklahoma State.

Absolutely...protect Dak at all cost.

Rush isn't half the player Dak is. It was a nice team win but they had to severely truncate the offense to hide some of Rush's deficiencies.

I think Grier is a better player than Rush, but the last thing I want to do is find out.

Better arm, more NFL experience. Played high level NCAA and was drafted in the 4th round. He isnt a bust or incapable...he is just a backup.

I guess Rush commands the huddle better and they like that, but I can't buy the play book thing after Grier has been here two months.

People also thought Gilbert was a good backup after one start.

There’s some rational validity to that perspective, but for me I find it fascinating because it gives us a view of what the Cowboys internal workings were like under Garrett and Dez’s comments flow with what a lot of fans were intuitively and inductively concluding regarding Garrett’s tenure. For a Cowboys fan like me, it’s an interesting window to look through.

Don't forget Doug Free...OL coach Bill Callahan wanted to bench Free but Garrett refused.
- Garrett convinced management to re-sign the inferior Free and let the superior player depart in free agency.
- Free went on to give up 9 sacks in his final season.
