Just watched a Voch u-tube video in which he was breaking down what went wrong with our run defense against the Broncos. Many of the big run plays actually were due to lack of outside containment from Golston not within the interior. Perhaps, this was the game in which we sorely missed DLaw. Golston is a rookie and this very correctable and a good teaching moment.
As for lack of tackling, this is something to watch. We heard this same issue with our secondary coach a few weeks ago as well. Poor tackling leads to big plays no matter if it's against the run or the pass. This is the biggest area of weakness and concern.
That's just certain clips as he had so limited time to play that video piece together.
I'm seeing several players totally let up and coasting and just watching when RB Devontae Williams is still churning .....while Justin Hamilton is trying to tango dance with him and the ball.
- Where's the "swarm of bees" around the ball mentality ?
- i thought our DEs did not set the edge- not just Gholston but even Randy at times, and too often the " backups " OL Denver was able to get to 2nd level of blocking
and get into even guys like Jayvon Kearse ..
- Gholston is a rookie and just like the other rookies he is gonna have his share of ups and downs, apparently coaches trust his skills to contend for more
playing time upfront. I wish we had more reliable vet help that could lead while he learns.
- And Tarrell Basham has been another rotation guy that has some issues getting hooked vs run. I wonder if Armstrong is still limited to his health. i'm not really a fan of either- JAGs.
- And too often I’m seeing the big body boys Bohanna, Watkins and Hamilton on the ground, and not detouring the play.
On occasions, Osa can twist his way into the backfield (which we should luv seeing rookies doing that) and then occasions they can swim him aside.
- And I’ll just as I see in that very Voch vid, just as I’ll continue to say a concern is how players are jumping, pointing, and caught standing up and not yet in position,
before the snap of the ball, … and teams are catching us while we’re doing that.
