It appears it was more Golston and poor tackling

Randy also isn't the best edge setter. So, without DLaw, we don't seem to have any player who is consistent at it.

Not trying to overly criticize Randy but it also seems to me that he isn't playing with discipline on some plays. He is coming up field like he's pass rushing when everything about the play suggested he needed to be playing the run first.
I got ripped for saying this exact same thing. Randy knows that sacks are what will get him paid and he is playing like it. In all honesty if our offense is clicking and he is getting to the QB all is good. This game was the perfect example of what happens when the offense stinks and we are losing and the opposition decides to cram it down our throats.

From what I saw, it wasnt only "edge containment issues". I also saw them gash us right up the gut to the right of center, then they followed it up with what looked like the exact same play to the other side. Both runs went for good yards. We are still not solid enough in the interior. Then you add in the edge containment issue and the end result is not a very good run defense. I know we have some reinforcement coming, but is it enough. I feel that any solid running team could simply wear us out running the ball, if they simple committed to it. That is the blueprint i would use to defeat us. Run, run, and run some more. Wear us out, keep our offence off the field, win the time of possession. And if our "high powered offense" does manage to score a TD in 5 plays, minute and a half of clock, then guess what, our defense is right back out there. Its the same formula we used when Dak was a rook.

My point is: the veterans have not done much. If anything, they have committed their fair share of costly plays. How many times has the front 7 held an opponent to 3rd & long, yet our veteran DBs give up a 1st down??? ALL SEASON LONG. Why hasn't Dan Quinn bench a few veterans and allowed the rookies (Cox, Wright & Mukuamu) play?

Well, according to Quinn a 3-4 weeks back, he went out of his was to compliment LVE in that he knew where to be and was playing well according to him. The other LB is Parsons who has been a playmaker. With the team in the big nickel and Neal in the rotation, Cox got left out early on. Of course his injury derailed any late season increased snaps.

In the secondary, Wright is an outside CB only and Diggs has been beat but also making plays and Brown is having a decent year. You don't pull Brown unless Wright is showing he is better in practice and Brown starts to struggle in game.

With Muk, Kearse has been a pleasent surprise, Hooker is playing well, Kazee started the year hot and Wilson when healthy has been fine. Muk is also going full time to safety so they may not want to throw him into the fire unless injuries dictate it.

Sometimes coaches prefer vets who may not be playmakers but go to where they need to be. LVE is an example in that he isn't his 2018 self but according to Quinn he knows his assignment on each snap. All it takes is a few guys free lancing and the other team can get chunk plays

Don't always agree with your posts but this is dead on......

I'm not saying to bench the vets permanently or even a whole game. If they give up a 3rd & long that allows the opposing team to keep their drive alive, go down the field and score, bench that veteran for a series. Give the rookies a little experience while making the vets understand there are repercussions for making such costly mistakes.

Here you go. . . . I'll Rip you a new one again just by pointing out the obvious Hypocrisy in your Mental:thumbup:

This is an unfair assessment by back handedly criticizing Randy for being a beast all year at getting after the QB . . . You sound so ungrateful . . . let me ask you this . . At any moment when Randy was being a Savage . . . Did you smile?

This game was the perfect example of what happens when the offense stinks and we are losing and the opposition decides to cram it down our throats.

This is true except where you typed "Our" it should read The Cowboys . . . and not just 1 Cowboy who you are trying to throw Shade on

Not surprisingly it was Gholston because he is a rookie but the Break said it was more Armstrong and we really miss Tank. I think you are both right. When Tank comes back I think we will be ok on run defense. I don’t think the Falcons and Chiefs are strong running teams so we should be ok until Tank returns.
ou also mean lie adding Tank, Gallimore, hill, and Urban back we can be better..those were projected heavy snap guys and weve been missing most of them throughout the season at different points,

that play above ids the players trying to do too much and strip the ball no ones trying to actually tackle..the coaches are responsible for reminding players to tackle first , strip second..its like a receiver dropping ball because he was turning up field too soon and needs to remember catch first run second..

its fixable but i blame coaches for not giving them heavy reminder that tackling is far more important then the strip..tackle first then try to strip..they are al trying to hold and strip..they helped the rb stay up , so needs soem addressing but its for sure fixable..

Seems like rookie DE’s and OLB’s often have to grow through this outside run contain problem. It was even a problem for DWare early on. We need DLaw back ASAP.

Maybe they are preaching turnovers to a fault at this point.

Maybe the rest of them see what kind of attention Diggs picks get and want to do similar? Meh.

Who knows? What I DO know is that good teams have bad games, and vice versa. At least it wasn't a conference game.

Good points we are a banged up team and went 6-2 for the first half of the season. Hopefully we can remain healthy and not have any season ending injury to a frontline player. The Cowboys are as good as anyone.

It was awful

On the third play where the run went to right and outside there’s just no pop with LVE. I believe he is initially maintaining gap integrity as the play goes across his face, but the problem is he doesn’t get off the block with any urgency. He’s constantly loafing, chasing plays rather than initiating the action.

Both Jaylon and LVE “catch” blockers allowing themselves to be controlled. This is football 101 and the entire purpose training on the bull station blocking pad. There is no punch to create space, no stacking and then shed.

I think you can pick anyone not wearing a number 11 and surprisingly 55 and the gametape will show that they were pretty terrible. That goes for both sides of the ball.
