It appears it was more Golston and poor tackling

Just watched a Voch u-tube video in which he was breaking down what went wrong with our run defense against the Broncos. Many of the big run plays actually were due to lack of outside containment from Golston not within the interior. Perhaps, this was the game in which we sorely missed DLaw. Golston is a rookie and this very correctable and a good teaching moment.

As for lack of tackling, this is something to watch. We heard this same issue with our secondary coach a few weeks ago as well. Poor tackling leads to big plays no matter if it's against the run or the pass. This is the biggest area of weakness and concern.

Golston has been messing up since early in the season when Dan Quinn started letting him play on Defense, yet Quinn never let Cox play at LB until 3 or 4 plays that he did against the Giants. The same goes for Wright and Mukuamu.

Clearly, Quinn is making particular player choices, and those decisions are not turning out so well.

Urban was a loss for us. He was stout in the run game.

Well, Golston got snaps due to injuries/C19.
They needed bodies and well Golston was healthy enough to play.

Cox still has/had guys ahead of him. He got a few snaps IIRC when Neal was out and Smith was cut and only LVE and Parsons was ahead of him
Wright won't see the field as long as Brown, Diggs and Canady are healthy. Add in Joseph now healthy and in the mix.
Same goes with Muk due to the surprising depth at safety this year.

They probably aren't playing the rookies due to them being rookies and not being ready for all their assignments. Probably would see more blown assignments if Wright/Muk got the same amount of snaps as Golston

Whenever Law comes back I would venture to say Golstons snaps drop big time.

are we still trying to blame 1-2 players for that loss? sorry i saw 90% of there team have an off day..weren't many bright spots so these threads with single name in them is just nonsense.

this pace doesn't have enough bandwidth to point tout all the players to blame..best to say TEAM LOSS..

Inexcusable on many levels

That was terrible.

At first look/assumption, I would hope #99 was trying to at least strip the ball. No clue what Kazee was trying to do hitting 99 in the back either. Too many just assuming #99 would stop the carrier.

This game just looked like a preseason game after a night of drinking.

Randy also isn't the best edge setter. So, without DLaw, we don't seem to have any player who is consistent at it.

Not trying to overly criticize Randy but it also seems to me that he isn't playing with discipline on some plays. He is coming up field like he's pass rushing when everything about the play suggested he needed to be playing the run first.

I know defense wants to create turnovers but guys in this game were pulling at the ball instead of bringing the ball carrier down. Result Denver ball carriers were picking up a lot of extra yards. You look back at Minn game, defensive players were coming up and laying big hits and taking runner down at the spot. Rule of thumb keep the head up and hit and wrap up on runner, stop trying tackle the ball

Not surprisingly it was Gholston because he is a rookie but the Break said it was more Armstrong and we really miss Tank. I think you are both right. When Tank comes back I think we will be ok on run defense. I don’t think the Falcons and Chiefs are strong running teams so we should be ok until Tank returns.

My point is: the veterans have not done much. If anything, they have committed their fair share of costly plays. How many times has the front 7 held an opponent to 3rd & long, yet our veteran DBs give up a 1st down??? ALL SEASON LONG. Why hasn't Dan Quinn benched a few veterans and allowed the rookies (Cox, Wright & Mukuamu) to play?

If your name isn't Micah Parsons, you sucked a fat one tackling.
