The day-one roster isn't a joke. It's almost exclusively players that make either the NFL top 100 or All-Pro team. Majority of the voting is coaches and players so I don't really understand the whole fan voting controversy. It's rarely an issue since it counts for very little
All-Pro is light years different than the popularity contest that is the Pro-Bowl.
They are nothing remotely alike.

But you're right that at least the "original" Pro Bowl team is pretty solid vs the eventual game-day substitutes.

There are years where maybe the 15th best QB (or worse) "makes the Pro Bowl" due to the games, injuries, or just opt-outs.
Mitch Trubisky was a Pro Bowler a couple of years ago, for example.

On the other hand, All-Pro is the very best of the best...period.

Because they still have an actual game, the can of worms remains open.

Pro bowl is fine. Like 70% of the day 1 roster also makes the all-pro team and almost all of the remaining 30% makes the NFL top 100 (which like the all-pro team doesn't have fan votes).

It can get dicey with alternates but nobody really counts those as legimate nominations anyways so no point in complaining about the bottom 10% of the roster (the rookie 5th year option for 1st rounders for example doesn't scale to the maximum amount if you make it as an alternate, you HAVE to make Day 1 roster)

Its no big deal to me, but that 70% is way off.
Its more like 25-30%

1). Pro Bowl includes 3-4 per position for BOTH NFC and also AFC….so 6-8 total
2) All-Pro is 1 player per position for all of NFL, or 2 if you have a 2nd team All-Pro….no AFC and NFC…just very best of best, no conferences

Ive seen players make Pro Bowl when they hardly even played that year

But we’re going in circles

Its an honor either way

I won't lie, I always vote every Cowboy into the Pro Bowl. ;)
Honesty!
Thanks for that

This does directly show why the Pro Bowl is a joke though.

But as long aswe all agree it has litle meaning—as people vote fortheir team knowing 100% for sure many they are voting for are not the best out 32 teams (or 16 in NFC) at their positions—then fine.

Can't vote for McGovern (FB) or Gregory (DE).

This vote is a sham.

Yep, I tried to find McGovern for FB too.

Fixed!!!
