Khalil Mack 2016:

73 tackles. 57 solo. 14 TFL. 11 sacks. 26 QB hits. 5 FF. 1 INT

Michah Parsons 2021(through 12 games):

72 tackles. 54 solo. 16 TFL. 10 sacks. 25 QB hits. 2 FF

Whats crazy is in 2015 Mack had 15.5 sacks and 23 TFL's. Parsons could finish the year either surpassing, equaling, or coming close to Mack's best stats from his two best seasons

DeMarcus Ware had 20 sacks one year and didn’t even come close to winning DPOY.

They gave it to a Pittsburgh Steeler who played the same exact position and who had fewer sacks.

They aren’t giving the award to a Cowboy unless they absolutely have to.

No doubt Parsons is on a mission. He's going to "surpass" many records in his rookie season. Still have 5 regular season games left. Then the playoffs. Look out!

I remember that 2008 season. Ware was the better pass rusher but Harrison was the better defensive player that season. The Steelers had the best defense that year and won the Super Bowl.

It’s crazy to think he went from being easily droy to considerable defensive player of the year. It’s outstanding and great to see this kid flourish.

I know a lot weren’t on board with this pick but wow he’s proving why he was in the conversation as a top 5-10 pick before opting out.

Should have traded up for Pitts.

Who’s considered the leader in the defensive MVP race? Anyone think Micah is having a better year than Myles?
This year is what matters
Fir Micah to win it he’s gonna have to be much closer to the lead in sacks
But he has a change to set an all time record for sacks/tackles combined. If he does that and is within a couple of the lead in sacks he has a chance
Tall order though

WOW, that's very impressive to see he's accomplished all of this through only 12 games.

well his 8th in sacks but hopefully they look at far more then sacks ie TFL , and PD as he caused that int Kearse got, and the tackle totals..him being rookie will hurt his mvp, dpoty year chances as he will get the DROTY easily..the nfl spreads the love and he will be lft it and he already can get one of the rewards and wont get the one vet can get..

kinda off topic

mvp voting needs to be reworked or they need to split it into defensive mvp and offensive mvp

dpoy just doesnt hold the same weight as league mvp

and Parsons is a beast and clear cut Defensive rookie of the year and should be in the voting for dpoy

A non-QB may win MVP this season because none of the QBs have really stood out. Usually it’s a QB award but it may be different this year. All the top QBs in the league have had a rough game or two this season. Kyler Murray may have been playing the most consistently well but he’s missed three straight games.

Great year by Ware, but Harrison deserved it.

They were both ROLB's in 3-4 defenses, but Harrison played in a Dick Lebeau 3-4 while Ware was in Wade's 3-4.

Lebeau's defense requires many more snaps in coverage and is a more multifaceted role. Ware was primarily a stand up rush end and the discrepancy largely showed up in tackles (Harrison had over 100 while Ware had around 60).

Harrison was the best player on a fringe all-time caliber defense that won the super bowl.

Garrett is probably a lock at this point. Parsons is probably the only person that can give him a run, but it will take a huge last 5 games

Not really....Garrett is mostly a one trick pony....sacks...and he has only four more than Parsons. With 4.5 sacks coming in one of the games. Parsons is more versatile and been winning def awards all season long. If it was fair, Parsons wins it easily.

Garrett also has 15 TFL's, he is definitely not a weak run defender
