That was the best thing that happened for us. Teams knew going into this draft that it was going to be difficult because the tendency is to rate those who didn't play lower than those who did. Of course, there was some players who didn't opt out who hurt their draft stock. But with a player like Parsons, if he had played at Penn State like he has been for us (and they had moved him to end, like I've read they were planning to do), there's no way we would have gotten him.

Exactly. People gotta realize he was only a true sophomore in 2019...and his main breakout game was the Cotton Bowl at the end of the season against Memphis.

Which btw I'm sure some from the Cowboys organization witnessed. I said it before....it sucked as a Penn Stater that he opted out in 2020. However he's most likely not a Dallas Cowboy had he played last year. So at most he would have been at Penn State for only one more Covid inflicted season (2020), while he could very well be a Cowboy for life.

Glad it turned out the way it did.

You watch Toney have the ball in his hands the guy had potential to be a problem. Him playing for the giants tho screwed that up. Parsons would of been the better pick no question for them

If my memory serves me right, he was 5th pick... but its possible he was third. He certainly wasn't top 2.
He was the third pick overall.

Round Pick Player
1 1 Akeem Olajuwon^
1 2 Sam Bowie
1 3 Michael Jordan^

Schadenfreude is best when it involves a division rival. Love it when they admit how good Parsons is.

After traveling to Miami on Sunday, the Giants face the Chargers and Cowboys the next two weeks. Which will put a spotlight on their decision to draft wide receiver Kadarius Toney in Round 1 this year, instead of offensive tackle Rashawn Slater or linebacker Micah Parsons.

The Giants had the 11th overall pick, but they traded back to No. 20, so the Bears could move up and draft quarterback Justin Fields. The Giants got a 2021 fifth-rounder pick, plus a first-rounder and fourth-rounder in 2022 from the Bears. Quite the haul.

Parsons wouldn't have helped the Giants. In hindsight they probably should have drafted Slater. Even though Toney is good, your offense starts at the offensive line.

I mentioned this in another thread. I think the Giants were trying to provide QB Jones all the weapons necessary to determine whether or not they should extend him after this season. Toney, Golladay, Shepard, Ingram, and Barkley coming back. It looks good on paper. But something is still seriously wrong. The team isn't playing like a cohesive unit. I don't know how to explain it. So when I see talent and they are still playing like crap, I blame the coaching by default. Similar to the Browns two years ago.

Cowboys are lucky that they did pass on Parsons. Hindsight is 20/20 but obviously an extra 3rd round pick wasn't worth the risk of losing Micah to a division rival. The NY media would already be calling him their next LT. It would have haunted the Cowboys forever.

Giants didnt trade for Toney. He was bpa when they picked. They traded for a 1st and 4th round next year. Right now that 1st looks pretty good. Depends on who they get next year to see if trade was a good move.

The Jaguars messed up not taking Parsons.

He's literally the best player in the 2021 draft and it's not even close.

The first 11 teams that drafted before us failed by not drafting Micah Parsons. We gave the Giants and the eagles a chance to snatch him up (because we traded back 2 spots). That could’ve really bit us in the *** but it all worked out and we got Osa in the process! Dude is the next Lawrence Taylor.

Hind sight is a good thing. This is one of the best picks we have ever picked so far. And anyone that didn’t pick him that had a shot at him should be kicking themselves. He is a instant improvement at the position. And is versatile..

No hindsight being used. Parsons had all the signs of a generational player. Amazing that so many missed on him. Including our own team. We should've been considering trading up to get him. And to think, we would've been dumb enough to take one of the CB's over him.

I am glad we didnt have to give up picks to move up and get him. He fell right in our laps..

He had “character issues” due to a hazing incident and he didn’t play his last year due to the whole covid thing - or I believe he would’ve been a top 5 pick; we got lucky!

I occasionally lurk on the Big Blue Interactive forum. There is a lot of gnashing of teeth over there that they could have potentially drafted Parsons with pick #11 if they hadn’t traded down to #20.

The Eagles had no chance unless they traded up past the Cowboys at 10 or they wanted to burn bridges lying to us when they told the Cowboys they were taking an offensive player at 10 when the trade was made.

He had character issues only if you buy into this soy boy, sissy society we live in today. He didn't do anything many of your heroes in the past didn't do back when football was a man's sport.

There is nothing wrong with Micah's character.

their mindset is to give Daniel Jones every oppourtunity so they did by drafting offense

problem is Jones isnt a franchise qb

Best thing they could have done to help Jones is draft Slater. And I wouldn’t be surprised if the Giants are big players in the Russell Wilson sweepstakes.
