I don’t know what to make of it either. I gave this some consideration some time ago. He doesn’t look “that bad” in terms of his play with the eyeball test. On the other hand, even with all his INTs teams are still throwing the ball at him, which also seems very odd to me. After a while you would figure teams would throw away from him like they did Sanders.

There must be something to that stat that encourages teams to continue to throw at him. Maybe it’s in part due to the fact that he is traveling with the best receiver?
Yup I think that’s it. He’s covering the team’s #1, hard to just not give your top target chances. As long as he’s shadowing the Terry’s and Justin Jefferson’s of the world he’ll be targeted.

How I feel - not worth a 2nd extension. Consistently in a CB is key. If you get beat for a TD and then get a pick in the same game. You pretty much didn't do anything in game, and if that pick isn't a pick 6 or your team didn't score, then that pick is less valuable than giving up that TD.
He’s given up like 3 touchdowns all season. Your point makes no sense.

I see Dbs like this all the time but not lately in the NFL. They play makers but can be beat at times. Its a give and take type of deal.

I think Diggs would be better if we had a legit FS playing center field. Having Kazee doing nothing of value back there makes it easier for QBs to throw deep on man to man coverage.

Thanks Gill...........that's the stat I wanted to read. I knew it wasn't many but 3 - brilliant.
Anytime! Can’t believe the previous poster said he wouldn’t re-sign him lol he’s our best corner since Deion, letting him go would be criminal.

Int are greater than yards given up. Sure we need him to work on that but an int changes a game.

I suspect so many people reading what I'm about to say think the same.........

"am I just some blinkered old fool who only sees great plays from Cowboys players / think our players are better than they are / think our players are better than XYZ on other teams"...............and believe me, I do that all the time!

But...............Diggs to not be rated as a top CB in the NFL is just wrong. He's NOT boom or bust at all. He's not a TD give up machine. Pop round to "scary Terry's" house and ask him who the best CB he's faced this year!

There's no such thing as shut down corner in 2021 with the rules the way they are but Diggs in up there as one of the best in the league right now............and he's only in year 2.

with you 100%. Diggs "mistake" is believing the safety is as good as he is.

The yards given up are definitely misleading. He has had some big plays go against him, I can remember 3 long passes but some were just great plays by the offense or miscommunication on D.

NE - 75 yard TD (Diggs and Kazee not on the same page in coverage)
Denver - 44 yard TD (great throw and route by Bridgewater/Patrick)
Washington - 43 yard TD (great catch by Sims)

It's not like he is routinely being torched for 10-15 yards or beaten deep. I have also seen him barely targeted some games because QBs respect him

great memory good sir. Absolutely he did. 70 yards and a touchdown against him. It’s little things like this that add up against his “stats” - his coverage is significantly better than he gets credit for. However, he’s an atrocious tackler and that’s why he has a reputation that isn’t accurate.
Yeah he tackles like Dieon. He has lots of RAC against him and garbage time completions. Now as I think about he probably leads the league in those type of plays. Similar to the Dak garbage yards argument.

Watching even his bad plays it doesn't feel like he's given up THAT many yards. Is he being credited (blamed) for some plays where the safety didn't help (ex, the NE game)?

Even some man coverages have the db "trailing" because of safety help over the top. Ir the safety screws up it's not really the CB's fault.

This is not a shot at Diggs as it doesn't even seem right to me that he's given up the most yardage. I don't know how you can accomplish that without it being painfully obvious on the field. He doesn't seem to me like a completion waiting to happen. Not at all.

But it's unacceptable to give up the most yards.

11 interceptions is also undeniable. That is special.

It's the oddest year I've seen from a Cowboy and I honestly don't know how to feel about it.
I'd bet money Anthony Brown gives up so many completions and yards...that PFF feels bad for him...and gives the yardage to Diggs.

Well NBC gets their stats from PFF. I don’t recall a game where Diggs gave up a ton of yards. What I do recall is him shutting down receivers so I’m not quite sure what algorithm or stats they’re using.

Are they counting catches from receivers on his side during zone coverage? I don’t know where that information is coming from.

If you noticed when they introduced our defense they showed the PFF ranking with each player and Anthony Brown was in the 30s I believe at the position while Diggs was in the 80s. Brown had a much higher grade.

You take away 11 INTs and your left with a guy that has given up the most receiving yards this season.

That wouldn't be considered the worst CB in the league this year?

I think you just like to argue.
You take away the touchdowns and all of a sudden Rodgers is rotating tires at Pep Boys. His skill set gets him the touchdowns just as Diggs’ skill set gets him the interceptions.
