K Greg Zuerlein definitely on the hot seat with Dallas Cowboys owner/GM Jerry Jones

I’m sure Jerry hired him based on the interview and MM coaching philosophy…just like any other GM. And I’m sure I don’t need to explain to you that sometimes these coaches don’t workout…but 8n all seriously, if our head coach does not have the where with all to move on from a kicker…then what good is he…
True but he’s the 6th HC hired since 1995 and none have worked out so far.
Maybe the problem is with the GM is my point.

After the Cowboys 3 point loss to the Cardinals on Sunday night, Dallas Cowboys owner/GM had this to say Tuesday morning about K Greg Zuerlein:

“I think the most important part of a kicker is consistency," Jones said. "And it’s not consistently missing.”

Read why Greg Zuerlein is on Jerry Jone's hot seat...

PS: Personal note: Jerry Jones should have kept K Lirim Hajrullahu "just in case" because of Greg Zuerlein's inconsistent leg rearing its ugly head once again right as the playoffs are right around the corner. o_O

What do you think about all of this inconsistency at kicker with the playoffs 1 game away from starting?

Discuss...

It is pitiful that it took this long for him to recognize the problem.

Lirim Hajrullahu is the one you want, he’s on another team though and hasn’t made a kick over 40 yards yet(in a small sample size). He’s been money on XPs though. Still not sure trust is the word I would use with him.

Not defending zuerlein, he needs replaced this offseason. I just don’t know that another pickup in week 18 or after is trustworthy. It’s the devil you know vs the devil you don’t. The guy who makes 80% of his kicks, gives you a shot at the long ones, strong with kickoffs, and knows all your trick plays is probably better to keep than roll the dice on someone this late.
I'm listening...but I hate paying for need alone, not product.

The fact that he still has a seat is the issue.
Problem is, there isn't a decent kicker available. Maybe Stephen should start looking for one in grocery stores. :muttley:

Oh I think the FO has recognized this since September. They just now decided to make it public.
The missed extra points at the worst part about him to me. Ridiculous
Don't forget the three 3 pointers in week one at Tampa Bay. But yet "Dak can't beat good teams". Give me a break.

Zuerlein cost his squad 3 games already. Wish we could pick up one of those college kids that have no problem kicking 50+ lol.

I see this coming a mile away

it’s going to take a playoff loss to get rid of Greg

trust me

It’s coming

Exactly. I fully expect to lose a playoff game because of his erratic kicking.. Though I doubt that will be the only reason for the L.

You’re not going to see a change with one game before the playoffs.
How about we don’t trail by two touchdowns against solid teams then blame missed FG’s.
How bout everyone is accountable including our lousy kicker! Cardinal kicker was 3-3 in kicks or clown was 0-3. Kicking made a huge difference in that game.

We are not always going to blow good teams out. We need our kicker to make kicks under 45 yards.
Bottom line Zeurlien is not consistent enough from kicks inside 45 yards!

I am the GM then I look at the kicker that took over when Greg was out. He hit all his kicks. Don’t make him better than Greg. I just knew he would mis Sunday but hoped he wound not. Close games we need every point we can get. And early. It’s a confidence thing. Drive the ball down and come away with nothing. Every team from here on out will be playoff caliber teams..

Also I would have fired the O-Line coach. These penalties and lack of aggression on blocks is on him. Bring in Colombo if needed. He had them power blocking. Like in the past. Now we need a 300 pound O-Lineman as a FB to create a hole to run through..
Under the circumstances and availability, I agree 100% @glimmerman .

Mam we should have kept the guy we had before we signed Greg honestly not as big of a leg but was consistent. I think his name was Forbaith

Forbath was 2 of 3 for the Rams last year before being put on injured reserve and is not kicking for anyone this year.

What we should have done is knowing that Zuerlein was bad on long-range FGs last year and knowing that he was undergoing a second back surgery, we should have drafted a kicker or at least brought in a UDFA to compete. Instead, we had last year's punter doing kickoffs and field goals in the preseason.

That's would work too, I just know the year he kicked for us I wasn't nervous when he got up there and he did not regularly miss fgs

Jerry may have seen fit to replace Zuerlein a while back if he were pro-active in managing.
Unfortunately, he's averse to change. He's inclined to wait until disaster strikes first! :omg:

Jeepers creepers, there's nothing like waiting until the wheels come off before responding.
Maybe JJ should put a little more pressure on his kicker by keep running his mouth. Wish he would just shut up. Him and TO should live together. They would feed off of each other by saying the wrong thing.
