Dak against top 10 defenses

Personally I think dak is adequate To win a title with….. but I just think sometimes he can be more consistent over four quarters.

the three games that come to mind are the broncos… chiefs…and cards. Defense kept us in all three.

Broncos he didn’t have a full offense. Don’t remember chiefs either…. But the cards game is an example. We can’t play inconsistent football and then all of a sudden pick it up late and hope to win playoff games.

That’s why I want to see more designed runs. It gets dak and the offense going early
I agree with this to a point - Dak can be inconsistent at times. But, I watched Mahomes last week and he was incredibly inconsistent as well - some of his throws were amazing and some were terrible. I know both QBs are paid incredibly well, and expectations should be high. But, these guys are human. I personally like Dak a lot and agree he's more than capable of helping us win a title. I don't think he's perfect, but I sure as he!! will be rooting for him and every Cowboy player and coach during the playoffs. I think we all agree, right...? We're all rooting for the Cowboys to win every week.

Things I like about Dak, he is a leader no denying that, probably the best QB since Aikman in using cadence to get free plays and tries to capitalize, seems like a nice guy, he does not take things for granted. The things I dislike, his mechanics are a mess, he lets too many people get into his ear, his pocket awareness is hit or miss, he does not scramble enough, he does not throw the ball away (can be linked to pocket awareness). I put him in the same territory as a Tony Romo until he wins a championship.

#2 Carolina - 130.3 passer rating W
#4 New England - 108.7 passer rating W
#7 New Orleans - 79.7 passer rating W
#8 Broncos - 73.9 L
#10 Philly - game 1 143.3 W
game 2 151.8 W

Hmmm.. 5-1 with a cumulative passer rating in the 115 (114.6) range.. 18 TD 3 INT.

What was this I keep hearing about how he "struggles against good defenses?"

LOL, the fact you include that 2nd Philly game knowing that they didn't play one starter that resulted in a Top 10 defense is so RonnieT, you just have to laugh.

Stop listening to haters.....

Of those teams referenced, New England, Carolina and Denver are the only teams in the top ten in pass defense.

Arizona is in the top ten in pass defense.

The 49's are in the top ten in pass defense.

My reading skills may not be on par with yours but I can read a table..

This table disagrees with you.. All the teams I referenced were top 10 in yards allowed.. You have a source that says different?

Oh we are pretending that he played well against Arizona then - ok.

Great season Dak! - you did well. Lets have an Eli Manning streak now.

I guess a good QB rating can be had if you wait until your WRs are wide open and are afraid to throw the ball

I used the link you provided and sorted by passing yards allowed.

Oh you said overall yards.. In any case.. Dak lit up the #2 pass defense in New England and the #4 pass defense in Carolina.. Like it or not he had a 105.8 passer rating against AZ.. The only real stinker was Denver.. in a game where his receivers dropped 6 balls on him.. and much like the AZ game the defense could not figure out how to stop the other team.. The Denver game he stunk.. as did most of his teammates.. Against AZ they just didn't have the ball enough.. cause the defense kept giving up 8 minute drives.. But all that aside.. Dak has proven he can play at an extremely high level.. If he plays to that level in the playoffs we will be watching our team for at least three more weeks.. That's the bottom line..

Yes. I edited it because I'm a bit foggy today and had it sorted backwards.

The point remains though. All of those teams were not in the top ten in pass defense. A team that embarrassed Dak is in the top ten, and our first playoff opponent is in the top ten.

The Cowboys had nine drives in the AZ game. The Cards had ten. Not really sure how that equates to "not having the ball enough".

I hope Dak does play at the high level he is sometimes capable of and not the low level he is sometimes capable of, against the top ten pass defense he will be facing Sunday.

In a typical game both teams get 11-12 possessions and run 65-70 snaps. The Cards had 72 snaps while the Cowboys had 56. Also keep in mind that Zeurlein missed an easy FG early in that game too. That game should have been 10-10 at the half and if the defense gets a stop before the half and to start the second half the Cowboys get the ball with a chance to take the lead and control. Instead the defense gives up an easy FG at the end of the half and a long TD drive to start the second.. So instead of 10-10 or even 13-10 the Cowboys get the ball down 19-7 and Moore in panic mode.. Because we both know he panics any time they're not ahead by two scores.. He called pretty much nothing but pass plays the entire second half and hung his o-line and his QB out to dry.. If he does that in the playoffs we will be one and done.. No balance = no chance.
