McClay is basically the GM. Jerry is only an honorary GM.

Do we know salary numbers for staff? I’m curious to know how much he’s getting.

I don't live in that fantasy land.

You're not a GM unless you are the final decision maker in personnel. Will McClay isn't even 2nd on that list. He's merely the top advisor to the real decision maker and his son.

Whatever the front office dynamic is, as far as talent acquisition and cap management I feel like they've done a great job since 2014-ish other than paying Jaylon (which, after his 2018 season didn't seem so bad at the time) and drafting Charlton, so I'm happy it's being maintained. Well, and their bargain bin free agency shopping hasn't really paid off until this year when it seems like they hit on every signing.

You really think Jerry is primarily responsible for the talent we’ve drafted and the players we’ve retained?

Yes, the Joneses do still have a say but it’s ignorant to think this organization is being ran like it was in the 2000s. We’ll have a few slipups here and there (Zeke contract) but that happens to basically every team. It’s not Jerry-specific.

I think that Will McClay can't make a single roster decision on this team. He needs others to make it for him. So he's not the GM.

Next season, cap management is fully doable...

He's had some hits, he's had some misses. I think is importance to the organisation is slightly overstated

I think Jerry and Stephen trust McClay and value his views and opinion, The notion that all Jerry and Stephen want are yes men is a load of BS. This does not mean every move they make will be gold, teams miss on players and that is across the league but by and large looking at players brought in and in draft the Cowboys have brought a lot of quality talent to this team.
