The structure in place is not changing. I don’t like Jerry as GM and I doubt other people on this board are happy about it either.

That doesn’t change the fact this is good news. We want good talent evaluators in the fold and it seems Will is good at his job. Plus repacking him would be difficult given the structure noted above.

unless he isnt that confident in his own ability to run the show and and enjoys the lack of accountability. There is a more likely chance of getting the boot in 3-4 years w/ the Jags or Giants than the Cowboys.

I would jump at the challenge, but some value money and anonymity more than fame and stress

That was just a needless and baseless attack on McClay's character.

lol. it was with al due respect, just saying its good to have a value hierarchy and know yourself.

10 more years of "{[insert draftpick name], Will McCaly of the Dallas Cowboys, I have someone who wants to speak with you....[pass]" is not nothing

“I am the final decision maker for the Dallas Cowboys.” - Jerry (at least 20,000 times since 3/31/1994)

The only reason this is true is because Jerry loves the limelight and glory. He basically wants to be able to say HE built a contender. But thankfully he’s letting people who know what they’re doing make most of the important decisions, even if it still goes through Jerry at the end of the day.

Rapoport is such a dolt. Major move in keeping an employee with maybe a smokescreen promotional title? Assistant to the Son.

Yep. The guy is getting paid, has a job he loves, security, still gets to hob-nob with the league. Heaven forbid he finds a niche he loves and live the life he wants.

he is the GM without the title and its been a fact for the last 5years minimum. its why jerry giving th man a raise..to keep him here and its a smart move,.

he has the Joness full trust and his voice has been great influence. Note the great drafts of late.

Again, GM's don't have to run decisions by a born-into-it know-nothing like Stephen. Real GM's are given autonomy to assemble a roster in their vision.

McClay gets to pretend to be a GM. And he's paid well for it. That's a hell of a gig, nothing wrong with it. But lets be clear, he's not a real GM, not in title nor job function.

"Hey wife and kids. I'm going to uproot our family to go live in New Jersey for the same money we earn today. You can expect a smaller house, less vacations and stuff, because we'll be living in a place that costs a lot more than where we live today. The benefits to you are we will have TMZ reporters outside our house sometimes watching what we do, you'll see my name in the news papers as the GM of the team, your friends' dads will make offhand quips about the decisions I make on a daily basis and how they could do better (given their time playing flag football in between business trips in their mid twenties) and a decent likelihood that job will end in the coming 3-5 years unless I am TRULY better than other GMs in this league.

We're going to undergo this change to our lives, because I am really focused on having some extra paragraphs in my Wikipedia profile in the future. And in the off chance we win the Superbowl WHILE I am the GM, we'll get a lot of praise and probably a new contract for it. I understand that you will judge me completely as a human being, father and husband on this only decision, so if you think about it, I'm really just making this decision so you don't see me as gutless."

I love the "taking the money out of it" bit. Yeah - if you take a key premise from my argument, my argument changes. Go you.

Great response and I and as usual no rebuttal. Who’s gutless????

That's basically his one and only role here, it's amusing at times, but I can't believe some people take him serious

Going by his posting history JJ, SJ, MM, McClay, Dak, Zeke, Coop, Dlaw, Gregory, Osa, and Gallimore all suck. I'm sure I missed some as well.

It's amazing we went 12-5. I can't imagine who he credits for that. I guess Parsons. He does like Parsons. Lol

As long as he knows, at some point, he will be Tom Ciskowski. No one above him will have to pay for a bad run

Jerry has said at least one, but probably multiple times, while the decision-making process is collaborative, he has the final say on personnel.
