We will know beforehand what they plan on doing the year prior, will they draft or trade for a QB who is starting material? They cannot be in the same situation as before or like when Romo got his big contract. There was no alternative but to resign. I do not anticipate any NFCC appearances much less SB wins during the next three years. So that will be a big decision for the remainder of the decade. Will it be another lost decade? We shall see. But if it was up to me, NO.

Yes another Dak thread. Whether you're a fan of Prescott as our QB or not, he is not going anywhere until his contract ends in 2024. So I got a question, if Dak comes to the end of his contract and we have not at least gotten to the Championship game during that timeframe, would you extend him? He would be 31 entering that season, not too old in today's NFL but he would have lost some of his mobility by that time, it's gonna be an interesting decision when that time comes.
Yes it is!
Glad we got the Jones boys handling this most important franchise altering decision!!!!!!

I don’t care if he’s re bust driver on the way to a SB win. If that’s the case I’d re sign him.

just getting to a championship game isn’t good enough idc how well he plays.

He will be on the bench or cut by the time his contract ends.
Guess that answers that......

I'd move on from him TODAY if I could and start looking for the real solution at QB.

:hammer:....Just did the GM simulator @ Over the cap.....Your not getting rid of Dak....he's got a 72 million cap hit if you cut him....and we are 23 million over the cap. This team is going to have to do some serious restructuring just to get enough money to resign some of our free agents.....The big move I was able to make was cut Cooper to get under the cap.

Oh boy do I have some bad news for a lot of people in here. I don't let this crap bother me anymore. It is what it is.

An extension would come after the 2023 season. No QB sees the last year of his second contract. He would be extended in 2023, and 2024 would be restructured to be more team friendly. Here's how you can tell if it's going to happen. If Jerry restructures his 2022 contract. Turning his salary into bonus money and spreading it out over 5 years. If you look at his contract, you can see it was designed to do just that. That means next year his cap hit would be roughly 18 million instead of the 30+ mil. Once that's done, that all but guarantees another extension.

Jerry went all in with Dak. There is no turning back. He pretty much has to restructure Dak's 2022 year. That along with other moves to get under the cap in order to resign whoever he wants, pay rookies and free agents. If he doesn't, Dallas will be up crap creek next year. Might have to unload some other contracts as well.

Right. Along with that is restructuring Dak, keeping him here longer.

I wonder if Browns fans are having the same argument we have. You don't think Baker is worth 40 mil a year? No. What's your plan without him? You don't remember the 172 quarterbacks we had between Bernie Kozar and Baker? You want to go back to that? I can see it now.

The question was would you sign him to a second contract, so I would have thought it was obvious to everyone my answer was meant to be interpreted as a NO.

If he can’t lead them to more success in the playoffs I doubt he gets a second contract. Stats. won’t matter going forward only postseason success.
