Quinton Nelson was my #1 target in the draft when we still had a great OL.

this FO has been “incapable “ of having a plan to build a team

may be a good to review what this FO has done in the last 25 years if you’ve been asleep

I have zero faith that they have a plan and know how to execute it to address our needs this off season

The Cowboys have built some pretty good offensive lines over the years. You can say what you want about this front office, but they've found a lot of good linemen. Yes we're in need of some new pieces, but the offensive line is a unit I believe this team can fix.

Problem was we would have had to really used up a lot of draft capital to get Nelson. Was not going to happen.

Yeah let’s offer our first round pick for Marpet and the Bucs second round draft choice. Then use those two 2nd round picks for a center and offensive line depth. Seems improbable but that is similar to what KC did to improve their line. The Ravens made one of the worst trades in NFL history considering how bad their line was this past season. All for a second first round pick for a wide receiver that talent is of someone you can get later in the draft. If the Cowboys made that horrible trade we would be getting panned.

this FO has “fixed” the OL by spending 3 rd 1 picks and signing another rd 1 pick due to very very unusual circumstances. So yes they can “fix” this OL by spending the next 4 rd 1 picks LOL

how Cowboys fans remain this totally devoid of sense and football knowledge is a mystery but a good explanation of why a moron can remain the GM with no repercussions

agreed

the OPP premise while accurate is off base.

that KC team went o sb with that OL the OL was missing what 2-3 players were hut they didn't play in that sb and of it weren't for Mahomes Type issue i doubt it would have looked as bad as it did.

the op feels its been much improved and i say how so the other group carried them to how many straight AFFCG and sbs?

yes Reid and the fo changed them all out but i dint see a dominant OL this year form them i saw them start slow have an up and own season and finally got things going right before the payoffs. more to do with healthy and confident Mahomes, the OL while new is it improved?

i doubt it..

our issues are not really execution more than its penalty's. changes for sure need to be made but nothing that drastic IMO.

we have lie 20 FAS to replace they won't go and blow the OL up like KC as they dont need to we have Ball, Farniok, Mcgovern and others to maybe redesign/reshuffle the current OL and see what shakes out..now new OLC might be necessary but not an entire OL.
I will say one thing toward the OPs point....

Andy Reid and the GM have the balls to make trades to improve the team.

Things like doing DE Ford and signing Clark...

Jerry would have just given Ford a huge contract.

Trading pieces to make the OL better, etc.

We tend to be more conservative when it comes to our own players and I can't dismiss that Jerry's tendency to have personal relationships with players may affect that.

We just don't make radical moves....but I also wouldn't say they aren't capable of building a better OLine.

You're starting with two first ballot hallf of famers. If you can't get the other 60% to work well with that.....well, Philbin hasn't.

But the willingness to part with Nolan and Jaylon Smith tells me maybe they move on.

I dont even know if that's the answer but status quo isn't working.

If we can find two maulers in the middle we can fix it too.

They also got contributions from a 6th round pick guard from Tennessee.

Yep, he forgot the 5th replacement. It was a wholesale 5 man change from last year to THIS year.

Hopefully Dallas FO was taking notes because Father Time is undefeated.

Just like Zeke ain't chrologically old as a RB, his touches/carries has sped up a very diminished shelf life.

Tyron is 31 and that's not old to be an effective left tackle. But he started as a 20 year rookie 10 plus years ago and his wear and tear snap count has sped up his effective shelf life too. At this point it appears his body is breaking down imo. Maybe Ball should get some offseason reps at this point.

Maybe a coaching change could help because it's hard to believe Martin and Collins have turned into total injury prone players at the same time as Tyron. I mean it's possible I guess.

Steele can be further coached up and be a good, not just adequate/serviceable backup. McGovern showed okay as a RG but not so much as a LG.

Biasdasz and Farniok should compete for offseason 1st team reps.

BUT, the draft can effectively address these needs as well provided there's a couple plug n' play stud types. Options are available.

Hoping, as usual, for the best.

After their shoddy OL lost them a super bowl, the chiefs decided to fix the OL and did it in one offseason.

Signed a high end guard (Thuney)
Traded first for a LT (Brown)
Used 2nd on a center (Humphrey)
Used 3rd on a guard (Smith)

just like that’s weakness was turned into a strength and will be for the next 3-4 years. This is the type of front office work the cowboys are incapable of doing.

Just like that as if all draft picks pan out.

Hahaha, come on man. How many good offensive linemen has this team acquired over the last couple of decades? There's been a lot and I seriously wonder about some fans memories sometimes ;).

The Chiefs are a great example cause they went through a similar issue earlier in the season how teams played them. Once they started running the football, the passing game started to open up again. It's pick your poison.

Thats how you address an area of weakness quickly, so the payoff now is a possible advancement to the SB.
I expect to see the Boys address the OL in a similar fashion this offseason and draft.
Jerry waits until the glass is empty before refilling to the rim.
This team has a history of running it dry positionally and then retooling the ranks, just WR group most recently/DBs.
But by the time he refills the glass, we're out of pretzels.

The current OL is a weakness. If you don’t think so, you weren’t paying attention the last half of the season.

I mean part of that was Mahomes was trying to do too much because he felt he had to in order to overcome the defense. He was in a way reverting to his college gunslinger ways which fortunately he stopped doing about halfway through the season.

Oh I totally agree we need some OL help, but I don't believe this team is incapable of addressing it. They have before. Now if you told me they were incapable of finding a 1tech on the dline, I would agree 1000 percent.

we passed on #Slater

They're QB elevated his game, he was the difference between a win or a loss. Unfortunately, the Boys don't have that option in their tool box................

The Cowboys won’t be doing the first two.
