After watching Aaron Donald we could really use something similar

Christian Barmore and Milton Williams were two guys last year. They both had good rookie seasons but only time will tell how well they do. Watching some Eagles games Williams looked very good on the plays he was in there.
Agree, id love to have those guys, but where do you draft those guys at? To get barmore you basically sacrifice Parsons. To get Williams you basically have to take him over Kelvin Joseph. Not sure I love either option there.

Mid rounds. Look back at the guys I pointed out. I've been watching this for year, you can get them in the mid rounds, but you must evaluate prospects well.

He will never be the best..and thats not a knock on him. But I can think of a few better than him. Bob Lilly, John Randle, Randy White, Mean Joe Greene was a beast. ..,Alan Page. And for a short time, Leon Lett. He had about 3 years there where no one could block him..and he dominated the NFL. People forget that. The Big Cat was an absolute monster on the inside. He could play every dline position and dominate. Love Donald, but he's not the best. He's top 10.

Oh I have my nostalgic biases too. He is most certainly better than John Randle. And while I love Randy White and Bob Lilly, Aaron Donald is freakishly quick and bigger than both of them. If he retired today, he would be a first ballot HOFer.

People wanted us to trade up for the safety Moehrig but I would have tried to trade up from 12 for Barmore.

I was not arguing with your premise, just injecting a bit of "grass is greener" analogy from different perspectives.

Of course teams want players like the best players on other teams and I hope the Cowboys find an Aaron Donald, a Jonathan Taylor, a Deebo Samuel, etc.

It doesn't necessarily have to be Aaron Donald he was just the best example I could find and it was fresh in my mind after watching him and his relentless play

Someone like Haloti Nagta. Or Dontari Poe in their prime would be a huge upgrade in my opinion

I was signing his praises and hoping Dallas was able to draft him 2014. He fell 2 picks shy or ours but we did end up with Zack Martin and not unhappy with the results of that.

I have 2 disagree. As awesome as Donald is, in no way is he markedly better than Randle. They were very similar guys in build. Im not biased. YES Donald should be a first ballot guy, thats no debate, but lets not crown him the best just yet. We have a short memory.

We need a freaky fatty on the inside to take up space, clog the running lanes. They don't need to be Aaron Donald. Vita V..frm the Bucs..is he a free agent? Hes a beast at DT.

That’s fair. I’m hindsight I really have no problem with Joseph+ whatever other pick you would have given up, but I wouldn’t be unhappy with that move either.

Dlaw plays DE not DT. Its just not the same. That said, Dlaw needed 2 elevate his game and he failed us.

D-Law was paid to be a disruptor, that is what Aaron Donald has been. My point is that we overpaid D-Law thinking we were getting something special. He's due $19M next season, the decision should be pretty obvious for the front office.

Dallas needs a #2 LB. Let Dlaw walk. In 2022 he's scheduled to make $19 million in base salary, a good chunk of money for a man once considered the best pass rusher on this team.

That title now goes to Parsons, who will enter Year 2 with increased expectations.

Agree. Lets also not forget, we have Cox. He will get a chance to start next 2 Micah...so if we can draft us another Micah type guy..whoa.. watch out. LVE will walk.

Aaron Donald is a top 5 defensive lineman of all time
Easily. This season at only age 30 he tied the NFL record for most first team all-pros (7x) by an interior lineman.

It's a 5 way tie with other legends (Larry Allen, John Hannah, Bob Lilly, Randy white, and Aaron donald are all 7x first team all-pro).

That's crazy, the dude might finish his career being a 9 or 10x first team all-pro which would put him as a top 5 lineman regardless of offense or defense

Oh i agree with your point, but with the players mentioned went right before your 2nd/3rd round picks. The only way to know for sure you can get them is to take them with earlier picks so you are essentially sacrificing Parsons or Joseph to get one. You can always play the trade up game, but that is hindsight. If i'm the Cowboys am i trading up 3 spots to grab williams when I know he may fall to me? or just stick with OSA and whatever else I would have had to give up?
