Is it Cooper's Fault?

No, it's just Dak's salary cap figure vs Cooper's salary cap figure.

Cooper was brought in for Dak.

What happened? Defenses know how to deal with Dak, who is overprotective with the ball and can't deal with zone coverages.

This team has basically two #1 wrs, you may not think so, but they do. You pay a guy 20 million a season you want him to get the ball, you have a guy you drafted in the first round he needs his receptions as well.

To solve this, what we really need is 1 #1 WR and some role players at receiver that are affected and can do what a Gallup does. These top guys are divas, I think we have to think when we criticize Coop, he didn't assemble this team.

Does he need to play better yes, does he need targets yes, i just think we have two guys that want the ball when it should be one and the other be a supporter, please give your thoughts..

That's hog wash. Amari can't stay healthy and Lamb rarely get more than 5 targets a game. The problem is the QB. Here is Dak's scouting report coming into the league. Nothing has changed.

Prescott stares down pressure in the pocket. This leads to a hesitation in his reads down the field, and in the NFL, that's a sack. After four years of running the ball and playing behind suspect offensive lines, the last thing Prescott needs is to absorb more free hits in the NFL. He has to learn to use his feet to evade the rush while staying true in the pocket and keeping his eyes downfield to scan for targets.

This could have been written last month, but it was in 2016. Its just who he is and how he plays the position. His pocket awareness is poor. He is not good at evading the rush to buy time. We blame the OL and WRs, but the truth is that its Dak.

I think the days of one receiver getting a bulk of targets is gone. It's just like how one running back no longer gets all the carries. Offenses have become more about scheme and spreading the ball around and less about finding the best player and letting him dominate.

I remember Dak missed Cooper wide open a little while after he got here, and he had a smirk and a "what is this guy doing" look on his face. I think he realized Dak wasn't "elite" and learned to just deal with it.

But I don't think the problem is Cooper, just like the problem wasn't Beasley or even Dez. Dak or Moore(or both) cannot use our weapons correctly and were going to continue to blame our WRs for it.

I don't know that it's his fault as much as it is Dak just isn't comfortable throwing to the guy. Why? Doesn't really matter, they aren't clicking.
I think Amari is frustrated not being targeted enough because he was open often.Dak either didn’t see him or was too scared to let it rip.Regardless, he’s not worth 20 million a year.

The same reason Zeke was the featured back and Pollard had limited touches. It's like our whole coaching staff came down with Jason Garrett syndrome. We're going to do our gameplan whether it's working or not.
I hear you on some of that, but if a WR is on the field and in the route tree--which Cee Dee was all game and in single coverage--then that's not the responsibility of the OC to get the all to him.

That's quite possible. But as an observer it's hard for me to tell what the problem is. I just default to blaming the system/QB for lack of targets to a WR. Because that's usually what it is. But it may not be in this case.

Think back to when we had Drew Bledsoe. Fans were calling Owens the highest paid decoy in the league. Enter Romo. All that changed almost immediately.
TO was twice the payer Amair is his drive, work out habits, health, and production were world class and unmatched by Amari Amari maybe a #1 receiver but hes tier 2 like we do with Qbs.. TO no matter his mental makeup was on a different level ie ELITE and that why he has a GOLD jacket top # WR ever..

some of the issues are AC some or the OC in moore not finding who the hot had each game and going off script and just feed the wr all game..its been mentioned before KM is the biggest issue we have with the run game and him not going off gameplan ie no true adjusting its being discussed how often Lamb or Cooper were one on one and beating their man ever y snap and Daks still going to #1 and 2 3 ie in his reads instead of being coached to just go after the CB covering these guys and throw it to them until they stop it..

i was hoping moore left but hes obviously still not grown up into this OC role , they do this in many teams whener the OC play caller just sees a weekends and goes off script and feeds a player until they are stopped.
no its not all dak or AC we need an OC who isn't using a play caller for dummies book and seemingly only wants to stick to gameplan and not being abloe to develop a run game or go off a script to feed a hot receiver. the WRs get bnit lazy because they ran 10 straight plays open 7 times and get 1 target..so a player sees hes just not going to get looked at might start running 3/4 speed and appear lazy but really just feeling ignored so why go full speed.

Moore to me while is very good OC has so many weaknesses, hes becoming nolan..he seemingly wont adlib wants to fit players into his gameplan vs exploit defenses with hot hand scenario.

I wouldn't want any receiver that doesn't want the ball, even the bottom guys on the depth chart. Obviously not all can be the top of the depth chart, but if you aren't #1 you should always want to be higher on the depth chart and want opportunities to show you are worthy of moving up on the depth chart. If players don't feel that way they don't have the competitive nature a team needs.

Besides, how would you even assemble a WR group like you are talking about? Intentionally only keep lesser players behind your #1 guy? Don't even try to acquire the best possible players?

Amari is lazy, not a popular opinion I know but I see it with my own eyes, dude takes plays off and is just apathetic. There is something off with him. He has immense talent with a misfiring engine.
Most definitely. He has his moments making us think, oh he was just in a slump, only to continue being half what he use to be. He did have his plantar fasciitis repaired. Who knows.

None of the Cowboys skill positions on offense even made the ProBowl. What does that tell you?

Cooper was like 43rd in receptions and 41st in targets. No wonder he's pissed.

Cooper needs to play with a QB like Rodgers, Adams is never covered.

Cooper needs a QB with selective amnesia after a bad play or what was almost a bad play. A lot of QB's become tentative after a near or real mishap and that window shrinks on them.

While Cooper is not a 50/50 ball type of WR, he is NFL open as much as any of them and Prescott fails to throw it at him many times.

I saw too many plays last season where Prescott checked down too early and that could also be a factor of his inconsistent OL and all QB's hate the rush up the middle.

I agree.

He doesn't have the energy necessary to dominate like he thinks he can. His motor is definitely in question.

Still a good player, but I think the Raiders figured this out before trading him.
To both of your points, you'd find it interesting to know that eerily similar things were said about him when he played for the Raiders. Lazy and nonchalant. I don't make it a habit to attack players, but anytime you have a recurring theme you gotta wonder.

3 of the top 6/7 stars on the team have a demonstrated history of disappearing in big games. Cooper is one of them. Lawrence and Zeke too. These guy’s are paid to be superstars but time and again they are ghosts in big games.

I noticed an alarming pattern with our offense since Moore took over in 2019. This spans two coaches. Moore is the only constant.

I don't think CeeDee is a #1 WR. At least I have not seen that yet. I see him as most effective in the slot.

Cooper has always been a receiver who disappears for half the games he plays. He was the same way when he was with the Raiders. Why do people think the Raiders traded Cooper away in the first place? He was clearly not a Gruden type of player. I trust Gruden's judgement. Cooper is not a leader on the field or in the locker room. That's why I think Gruden traded Cooper. According to reports, only the Cowboys were willing to cough up a first round pick. It was a mistake.

When Cooper is on his game, he is a #1 WR. He does not fight hard to YAC. He does not get fired up after making a big catch. and he does not inspire his teammates. That's the downside.

But, given the CAP situation, we need to look at the big picture - offense and defense. Who do we re-sign? Gallup or Gregory? Keep Lawrence or trade him and see if Golston can pick up the slack?

Given what we have seen from Dak, it appears the offense needs to be full of stars for Dak to perform at his best. The draft has to be about the OL. Maybe, if the OL improves, Dak can still be effective without Cooper, Schultz and Gallup, especially if they have a better running game.

Cooper is definitely not a diva. Most WR divas all have one thing in common; they all want the ball. I think Coop can get 12 targets or 2 targets and will feel the same way about both.

Low Energy Coop.

in reference to the bolded, you answered your own question however there is another point (neither of these are on Coop), You pay a guy 20 mil a season, naturally you're going to want the most out of that player... But how can that player do their work when you have a line that is broken and can't stop a rush, you have an OC that can't even figure out to scheme plays to where Coop can get the ball and you have a QB that is running for his life (because of the broken offensive line) and quickly throws the ball to get rid of it as to not get tackled for a loss of yards (whether it be Coop or whoever)?

No this is not on Coop at all... Sorry....

I think Cooper is a bigger Diva than Dak, and all I’m saying is there might not be enough targets to keep everyone happy. Even if they do make the proper adjustments, if we lose certain players or suffer certain injuries, those adjustments could be negated, causing some of those “realists” to bleat some snarky I told you so’s.

No matter what happens, most of us will endure.

Exactly what I'm saying!! But in the end we need more Wilson's and Turner's
