I don't think CeeDee is a #1 WR. At least I have not seen that yet. I see him as most effective in the slot.
Cooper has always been a receiver who disappears for half the games he plays. He was the same way when he was with the Raiders. Why do people think the Raiders traded Cooper away in the first place? He was clearly not a Gruden type of player. I trust Gruden's judgement. Cooper is not a leader on the field or in the locker room. That's why I think Gruden traded Cooper. According to reports, only the Cowboys were willing to cough up a first round pick. It was a mistake.
When Cooper is on his game, he is a #1 WR. He does not fight hard to YAC. He does not get fired up after making a big catch. and he does not inspire his teammates. That's the downside.
But, given the CAP situation, we need to look at the big picture - offense and defense. Who do we re-sign? Gallup or Gregory? Keep Lawrence or trade him and see if Golston can pick up the slack?
Given what we have seen from Dak, it appears the offense needs to be full of stars for Dak to perform at his best. The draft has to be about the OL. Maybe, if the OL improves, Dak can still be effective without Cooper, Schultz and Gallup, especially if they have a better running game.
