To me the pass rush failed (v49ers) as we were actually hindered by lining up Micah as LB (and is one of the limitations having both DLaw and Gregory)....we became predictable and Jimmy G had that split second and had Micah in his sights.
You put Micah on the edge, you feel/sense the pressure before the play starts.
OK we acknowledge the pocket reducing attributes of DLaw, but it's slow and methodical power, for our D to work we need impact.
From memory/eye (and people only see and remember the latest travesty-49ers), our pass rush was a lot more dominant and effective when we were forced to play Micah/Gregory combo earlier in the season.
- i've always felt that DLaw does his best work as a rusher, because he's a technician, he knows about leverage and a repertoire of moves, he has
above average athleticism but it's not near on the level of Gregory or Parsons, so he has to work that much harder.
But yet something is happening to where he just cannot generate the double digit sacks the team envisioned him to produce when they re-signed him
to that contract.
- Because of their natural athleticism, bend and burst, Quinn can enjoy moving Randy/Micah from one edge side to another with success, while
moving Dlaw inside as a situational nickel rusher works best, as he's not gonna beat many LT blockers, imo.
- Moving Parsons around, also allows him to come hot up the middle blitz, and most RBs simply cannot handle him.
