This team is awful at negotiating. Now we just gave Gallup a ton of leverage because he knows we have to pay him now.

this is what would be most infuriating for me if I was a cowboys fan: Monday at noon, players can start negotiating with other teams before FA officially begins. If Dallas doesn’t get Gallup wrapped up before then, he can basically name his price. Why isn’t he signed yet?

terrible job with this. Restructure contract or just keep him. Unless there are things that happened that we don't know about this is just an absolute embarrassment. We are a worse ootball team today.
Jerry was publicly critical of Cooper in interviews relative to being selfish with his pandemic approach and missing games.

I think that stuff played a role along with the contract stuff including the Gallup situation.

There could be more considering the Rich D and Jerrah fiasco, it would not shock me at all.

Which is the age where most athletes peak. There is a good reason to think we have seen the best of Amari Cooper.

Yep... and we saw the best of Zeke over 2 years ago. Cowboys FO butchered the rule of never paying RB's which are a dime a dozen.

no we are not first off

We save 16mil against the cap..umm yes better than nothing..i always thought the narrative is the FO takes too long holds on too long before letting and player go..they are getting ahead of his contract that helps cap room. he maybe a very solid 1 but hes not elite nor been great of late had little drive and passion to be any more then hes always been and now going top his 3rd team. Lamb and Gallup along with whatever else they come up with add Schultz is back will be fine..im more concerned about reestablish the OL and run game it will actually make the pass game better ..less options imo is better we can key one player per game and try and scheme him vs just saying oh well we have an embarrassment of riches at WR and still one and done in the payoffs. Far too many options like too large a menu that take forever choosing what top order, easier to target and scheme players , i mean its not leaving us without starers like in 18..lamb a first round pick and Gallups better then he was 3 years age. We wil eb fine stop whining and overreacting,. AC has not been special and not helped us get over the hump..

... accept change its part of life and part of sports.

I don't get this thinking. I think the Jones' knew they couldn't pay him. That contract was always a 2year/ 40 million guaranteed contract. Once they drafted Lamb Cooper would have to be an all pro to keep him with their cap issues. They used Amari as a decoy to allow Lamb to shine.

No, I dont think so. I would about bet his agent already knows what he would bring in the open market. Its numbers both sides know.

Of course!

His salary for his recent production is way out of whack.
Front office decisions continue to be mind boggling. Starting with the cave on zeke’s ridiculous contract , to Dak’s to amari and tank . This is a team that is deluded by players that Jerry thinks are stars . They are no !

If Dak failed with those weapons what provides you confidence he can make the next step with less weapons? Honest question because I see Cooper ability under utilized by coaches and Dak.

he doesn't need confidence, hes a dang vet now with plenty of confidence! want dak to feel more comfy fix the OL and get him a run game and scheme more..

yes less option both for Moore and Dak = a myopic focus less payers crying over targets. Most teams only have true #1 and then some role players at WR..IE Aaron rogers etc..too many mouths to feed can cause conflict and IF Lamb would have been picked before Amaris deal got signed, Amari would have been gone.

he got his 20mil because at the time he was the #1 and they felt dak needed him, than Lamb falls into our laps 3 weeks later and too late to go back. Now AC numbers are dropping, hes not happy to point not only is he finally talking hes beefing and it showed on the field lack of passion and lack of drive or motivation etc. So at this point hes overpaid, we get 16mil back plus 2 draft picks and can now focus on Lamb as the primary plus whomever else we sign ie gallup wilson or anther player to be named draft or otherwise.. Schultz is daks blanket more so now than Ac has been in a long time..open your eyes..

this was a solid business move and really wont hurt the team i mean what has AC done to move us further then we have been before he came? they picked the moment to make a move that benefited all party's..seriously think deeper then the oh no we lost good player and somehow we are doomed..

I feel this is part of plan to rediscover the run game with a strong play action pass game and play more 12 offense etc etc.. the DC will adjust to life without coop as all teams do when they make moves like this. He is a loss for sure but not something that will decide our fate,,

get over it

hes gone its over...

Salary cap. We can't afford him. He was gone when we paid DLaw, Zeke, Tyron, and and aren't we still paying Jaylon?

To me that’s unfathomable. CeeDee Lamb, Noah Brown… Simi Fehoko? Dalton Schwartz is back but Jarwin is gone?

I get dropping Cooper, but you’ll pick up a thrift store WR and go into the draft hoping to pick up another on day 2 and then cross your fingers it’s a competent group?

Offhand, you're paying too much attention to the details and not looking at the big pic. We have to dump salaries. What are you proposing?

Resign Gallup, make it backloaded if you have to. 13m$ AAV could be 5m$ first year cap hit. Lamb will be that much better if he’s the sole focus of the opponent’s game plan. Trading Cooper only works if you have a plan in place to cover for him

With his injury history and coming off an ACL and possibly not even being ready for the start of next season he doesn’t have much leverage. I’m not so sure Cedrick Wilson isn’t better than him. The deal that’s been reportedly offered to Gallop is team friendly.
