Gallup and Dak have always had a good connection. Pretty happy we could retain him, though I am worried about the injuries.

So, 17mil left in either guaranteed salary or guaranteed for injury. Not bad.

I hope that knucklehead surgeon who said Jaylon would be fine wasn't involved with Gallup's surgery/prognosis.

The problem with Jaylon was more mental than physical. I am sure the surgeon was right and the knee was structurally sound, but Jaylon always feared getting hurt again so he would intentionally avoid contact. He could never get over that mental block.

I dont think Gallup will have any of those issues, ACL is fairly common in todays game and guys come back from them all the time with no lingering problems.

So you have to imagine JJ is pissed because this is now the second time he thought he would be the NFL news of the day only for something much bigger to happen.

That’s a fair deal to both sides given The situation. I don’t feel like the Jones got screwed on this so that’s a positive

Looks like we got an accountant on our hands here.

I mean 10 million signing bonus means 2 million cap this year. Assuming that leaves 17 million guaranteed which is probably the salary for years 1 and 2 and that it would probably be heavier in year 2 because delaying cap hits is how the NFL works.

Guaranteed dollars matter most, but does anyone think Gallup was getting a long term deal like that from any other team coming off a torn ACL? I don't think so, if it was longer term I was hoping it would be around 10 million a year. But clearly the Cowboys felt he'll be healthy enough to be a big contributor. I will say it seems Dak trusts Gallup the most down the field and hope he earns his money. If we're getting the 2019 version of Michael Gallup it was a fair deal, otherwise I can't see this being a good contract.
