The Cowboys wouldn’t have traded Cooper if they thought they would also lose Gallup. No way could they afford to lose both. They would’ve done what they had to do to sign Gallup. He had a calf injury earlier in the season that cost him a number of games. He’s had a few injuries so no one was going to break the bank for him. He’s yet to prove he can be a number one receiver.
Yep - I thought if not for the ACL he would of got around $17 million a year. His stats aren’t that far off of mike Williams who just signed for $20 million a year. Chris Godwin knee injury was worse and he got the franchise tag.In a way the knee injury probably helped keep him in Dallas. If he was healthy right now he could have gotten a lot more in my opinion.
$6 million of dead money. Now you get Wilson back and we are good to go. All you bashes can suck it. They played this well. Cooper gone with no dead money, keep Gallup Schultz and hourly Wilson is next.
2 years agoGallup was an 1100 yard guy in 2019. In 2020 he slipped due to Lamb's arrival and last year he only played nine games. With Cooper gone Gallup is going to be the number two receiver again and his production should be back to where it was a couple years ago.
I guess he will be the highest paid no 3 receiver in the league. Fits right in.
I’m no cap expert, but I guess this means somewhere around a $15 million cap hit if for whatever reason he never comes back the same and we cut him before the 23 season?
Yeah, this deal was already done yesterday before they traded Coop. Talk about disaster if they would have lost both.
Feels like he took a “hometown deal”
glad to see Gallup back he’s been a very nice deep threat and a perfect compliment to CeeDee

Yup, he will be carrying a $20M salary in no time. The cap hit won't be that high. I expect a huge part of Gallup's 2022 salary will be in his up-front signing bonus and that can be paid out over the course of the next five years. If I had to guess, Gallup will probably count around $8 million against the cap this year (again just a guess).
You guys really have to start seeing these players for what they truly are. What the heck has Michael Gallup ever done to warrant top money?
