somewhat true but if they were willing to spend nearly 14 on RG hey will give that to better player , they already have the role player ie Basham.,Armstrong ,gholston etc they know they need a starer and why they offered that to RG so I believe they can find a quality DE for close to the same money. Its solid gut feeling they will grab one of these guys

Ingram
Miller
Jones
Smith

VM may not be the guy but fit wise i think Chandler Jones being able to kick inside when Micah goes to end might be a better match.. good pass rush., good run support , and can play inside as well.

What they were willing to spend on Gregory has nothing to do with what they are willing to spend on another end. They have shown a willingness to pay their own what they believe is market value. They do not pay similarly for outside FAs.

Hopefully the organization is on the same page with possibly pursuing Miller. They clearly weren't when it came to Gregory, according to reports. Jerry is said to be livid. He did the negotiating and then after the fact Stephen decided to add language, thus blowing up the deal.

With the Jones boys be on the same page on Von Miller? Who knows with this clown show.
They will be, yes.

They likely are trying to clean up the mess they now have at RDE

I'm sure the Cowboys were planning on Gregory, so they probably hardly discussed Miller, but my guess is that Jerry is angry and wants to make a splash. If DQ wants him, I think we go for it.
Makes sense for him too. There were reports that he was thinking about heading back to Denver, but they spurned him and chose Gregory.
We have money, we have a hole, he would be coming home. He loves DWare. He would add championship experience.
Wow. I am getting overly excited, for something that will likely not happen.

Von: Hey Stephen I’d love to finish my career in Dallas. Let’s make it happen.

Stephen: Sure thing Von. We will sign you come week 2 when we don’t have to guarantee you anything. Then it’ll be a week to week deal. League minimum plus free parking on game day.

Click

Stephen: Von? You still there?

"i'll have to get approval on that parking"

Hopefully the Jones' are embarrassed enough about what happened with Gregory to make Miller the "splash" of 2022.

I say it actually does correlate, it was was them acknowledging they need starter not depth guy and will pay starter money,,.stay tuned i mean the offseason is long, two week sin is nothing its just heating up..umm kk lets talk day 1 starters when day 1 comes and we dont have quality opposite Tank..

And again, it has not in the past. We made what we felt was a competitive offer for DeMarco Murray, but Philly offered more and he left. We replaced him with Darren McFadden, a cast-off by the Raiders who did not cost us much (two years, $5.85 million). That's with us coming off one of our best seasons since the 1990s with a nearly 2,000-yard back.

The Joneses' stated philosophy is not paying high prices in free agency because they believe the feeding frenzy inflates contracts to the point where you can never get value until after the initial frenzy subsides. They need starters and they sign players like Kazee (1 year, $1.27 million) and Carlos Watkins (1 year, $1.75 million). No matter what the need is, they have been cheap since adopting that philosophy.

Again, the only exception that gives us any hope is trading for Amari Cooper, but that only came after the cheap plan for replacing Dez completely unraveled.

Maybe getting Miller instead of Gregory will finally teach them that some outside players are actually better than "our guys"

They really do need to see that. I think the failures of outside FAs to live up to their contracts led to this overreaction by the Joneses, particularly Brandon Carr.
