I wouldn’t be surprised if the contract is really like $6 million guaranteed.

Too much for him. I probably would have been ok with $4 million tops.

Here's a decent article on the signing:

https://www.profootballrumors.com/2022/03/cowboys-re-sign-de-dorance-armstrong#:~:text=Dorance Armstrong has parlayed a,he really emerged in 2021.

........what do you guys think? Some will crap all over the signing of this kid but they shouldn't. He's solid IMO and I mentioned yesterday they could sign DA and rotate him with Parsons. So again, some will hate this but I don't because Gregory was too mercurial and unreliable IMO. Only move I HATE thus far has been losing Wilson, that was a mistake.

So 6.5 per. for a backup DE.

Sort of. It's kind of like the Anthony Brown deal. We signed him for three years, $15 million in 2020 (which would be the equivalent of what Armstrong received). So it is likely the Joneses see him as a quality backup who can start and play at least decently if the draft doesn't fall right to get a better option. Sadly, there are some starting FAs that we could have gotten for the same price, but the Joneses' system is to pay their own not other teams' FAs.

So two years, 13.5 for Armstrong? Or three years, 16.5 for Michael Pierce? Give me Pierce all day no brainer and clog the middle

They paid this scrub that much but wont pay Kearse??

In a sense, re-signing Armstrong was probably a higher priority with the Joneses. They tried to re-sign Gregory but lost him, so Armstrong had to be re-signed in order to have a "quality" body manning RDE. They already re-signed Hooker, so technically they have two starting safeties (Wilson and Hooker) if Kearse walks.
