He was a headache and I was ready to move on a few years ago but he did develop into a good player once he stayed on the field.

He was solid. Not worth the second round pick, aside from all the **** he pulled. I'm not spending a second for a guy who averages six sacks a season.

Dante Fowler hasn’t spent most of his career suspended like Gregory so he should have more sacks. Randy Gregory is a better player.

Armstrong is equal and has more upside. He also doesn't belong in a psych ward.

Has anybody looked at the number of forced fumbles he's had? Six in the last 3 seasons. That's important.

32 QB hits in the last three seasons.

He has returned 2 fumbles for TD's in his careers

I wouldn't exactly call him a bust.

He balled in his contract season, 2019.

11.5 sacks

6 passes defended.

A fumble recovered and returned for a TD.

16 QB hits

In effect, isn't 2022 another contract season for him?

Down grading in what way specifically

We’ve downgraded everywhere. Cooper was our best receiver and CeeDee hasn’t shown he can be a number one receiver as of yet or be as affective with Cooper off the field. Losing Cedrick Wilson is a downgrade because none of the receivers behind are as good. We’re all glad to see Connor Williams gone but McGovern was worse. He was given an opportunity but he can’t run block and we had to go back to Williams. I’m not convinced Terence Steele is better than Collins. Armstrong is a downgrade over Gregory. The Cowboys are clearly a worse team now than they were at the end of the season. They’re going to have to hit one out of the park in the draft to offset some of these losses.

Armstrong is replacing Gregory.

We still have plenty of talent at receiver.

I'll keep an open mind about this signing but right now I think Gregory is the better player.

You’re right but that’s still a downgrade.

Not by much and Armstrong is only 24 if I'm not mistaken. He still has upside. Gregory has maxed out, especially after this contract.

He had 11.5 sacks in 2019 , he’s not a bust
35 career sacks at 27 years of age and in his prime isnt a bust signing IMHO.
Its a relevant signing with a good chance of becoming really good fit relevant for those that understand what Q is looking for.
As fans we get it stuck in our head that if we lose a player they have to be replaced with the exact same player type yet that player that we lost was part of the problem ...no?
How big of a team concept contributor was Randy Gregory?
How many times did CW jump off sides or draw the penalty?
Getting rid of some of the non contributors is part of the equation, and Im glad this front office is finally starting to recognize the obvious.
We all want better coaching so lets give a coach like Q the pieces that he needs to actually be that great coach we as fans want so desperately.
Anyone thinking that Fowler ever even crossed Jerry or Stephens' minds are fooling themselves.
Fowler is Quinn pick up all day.
Let the man build his defense his way and then I will judge.

People are just happy signing anybody. These are Walmart signings. They do nothing to improve the team.
Disagree. We've seen too many times what this team yields with no depth. Honestly, outside of QB (Don't care that Cooper won one he's a #3 at best), we had far more depth last year than we've had in a while. Unfortunately OL was not that spot. Hopefully we address that in the draft a bit.

Every year you downgrade overall but you hope your 2nd and 3rd year players improve and you have a good draft. That’s the process.

It's a solid signing, about what we should expect. He's got the ability to put up a double-digit sack season, but is also liable to be a flameout. He also gives us some flexibility when we do 3-4 looks since he's more of an OLB type.

His best season was as a 3-4 OLB in Wade's system (did help having Donald in that front). In college was praised for his coverage skills. Was not great in 2 years with Atlanta under Quinn and then Pees. No surprise that Falcons released him

He might well be better in coverage than Gregory, but not as good a pass rusher or run defender as Randy
