There’s a group here that feel the team should draft Davis to “finally” fill the need of that big run stooping DT. This will surprise some but I think if Davis is there he’s going to get a real look. Davis is really unlike anything we’ve seen. And I think there are people in front offices that think he’s more than just a run stopper. You also start to wonder what a guy like Quinn could do for the player. The combine I think opened some eyes. Because of that I don’t think he has any chance of falling to 24.

Would you draft Dontari Poe in the 1st with the benefit of hindsight?

Linderbaum, Green, and Johnson. I think you can find interior players later in the draft that can be just as good. Use the 24th pick for a prime position.

Remember how our O-line play improved when we drafted Fred Beard? Linderbaum would give us that.

Oh no, you can't deny your strategy. Taco was BPA by a mile. Very well regarded. Don't backtrack, you want to support a severely flawed strategy, you take the good w/ the bad.

I'm for a combo of both, BTW, using only one simple strategy to draft is extremely foolish. And since there's no such thing as BPA anyway, it's not a strategy.

I just posted a pre-draft assessment. Nfl.com lamce zurlein (a guy well respected on here) had him as a pro bowl talent. 7.0 grade. That isn't a fringe first round assessment

And just about everyone else had him going in the late first. One guys grade, no matter how respected, doesnt reset a guys value.

Its moot really. They came right out and said they had higher guys than him and they drafted him because they didnt think they could get a good end later. That admission by them pretty much ends any idea that Charlton was a "BPA" pick. Thats not even remotely accurate

BPA in that draft according to them was Dalvin Cook, the only 1st round grade they had left. Knowing what we know now I still don't take Cook

Wrong. You literally got it backwards. TJ Watt was the BPA and thats who I was screaming from the rooftop to pick. If you think Taco was BPA and very well regarded you are a fool.
Don't ascribe a strawman argument to me and expect me to defend it.
You would reach for a need and add less talented players. If I wanted to fill a need with a less talented player I would at least trade down and add draft capital to get him.

Taco was the definition of reaching for need. He was a solid fringe 1st round prospect but after his poor combine performance he never should’ve been considered in the 1st.

BPA probably would’ve been Kevin King or Watt after looking back on that class and how those prospects were rated. Either would’ve been much better picks.
