what's worse is that the Browns had the need for a #1 WR, and was still able to punk us. bottom line is not since Jimmy Johnson have we been able to make a trade thats in our best interest.

Tyreek Hill netted a 2022 1st, a 2022 2nd a 2022 4th-round pick, and additional picks in 2023

Davonte Adams netted a 2022 first and a 2022 2nd

Amari Cooper netted a 2022 5th and 2023 6th, plus Dallas traded back a 2022 6th.

Not saying Cooper is at Adam's and Hill's level, but......man.
Adams was approaching free agency on the tag. The only way to get him was by trade.
Hill was on a big contract but facing free agency next year. KC traded him a year ahead because they valued the picks, wanted the cap space, and traded while he had great value.

Cooper was not going to be a Cowboy. The handwriting was on the wall when he wasn’t restructured last year. Teams knew he was going to be released. The Browns were the highest bidder, likely to avoid a bidding war and to use as a piece to getting Wilson to agree. Fans think it was bad negotiating by Dallas. Duh, negotiating the best deal when several teams want a player is pretty easy. There’s not much you can do when only one team will give you a fifth. How do you propose Dallas get them to give much more…lol?
The best offer got him. Maybe the better question is why would no other team hungry for wr offer a 4th to get Cooper. That’s all it would have taken.

Well. I mean. The constant I see is that I didn’t hear about anything regarding hill or adams. It’s just happened. Quickly. Our FO told the world he’s being released lol.

Because they can’t keep their mouths shut. The Joneses love the sound if their own voices and have to talk, even if they’re spilling secrets.

He had a below average season. But I agree with the sentiment. We never get value for players we trade away.
That's not it.

If the idiots running the team hadn't announced to the world that we would cut him if we couldn't trade him he would have been traded for a better pick(s).

The reason Cooper had garbage value is because he isnt a 20 million dollar WR and never was.

The contract was a mistake, and not at all the first given to a player that we just couldn't lose....because THAT was THE year....or we needed to try to save Garrett....etc.

"Great route running" isn't what teams pay for.

Sure it didn't help that the two idiots have to disclose their intentions because they need to hear themselves talk about football....but that wasn't really the problem......which was 100% Cooper not being worth 20m. If he was, Jerry would have done more to keep the band together.

After all, it's a Super Bowl team....eehn hees mahnd.

Cooper and his buddy Elliott are the epitome of underachievment......just like this franchise.

Wonder if Hill has some legal stuff coming
If I was Dak, I would ask for a trade. I don't see how anyone could play in Dallas anymore. The GM and his son's track record tells you this team isn't going anywhere.

We are at a competitive disadvantage.

Every situation is different and the players perceived value as compared to his contract value are an important part of this. Rams got a 6th for Woods who isn't as good as Cooper of course, but also only costs like $14M as compared to Cooper's $20M per year so he has a somewhat similar value. IMO Cooper should have gotten us back like a 3rd rounder and the reason we didn't get this was because we told everyone who would listen that we were going to cut him. Exact same issue as Collins. Thank the Jones boys...

Yeah, I am still ok with the Cooper trade. He was not a top WR anymore, his last few season, injuries, disappears in games and road games. High cap hit.
It was a good trade.
Even though they used that cap savings to re-sign a few decent players and many of their own FA's. it was good. It was like getting 5 players for 1.
It was a terrible trade, we as fans have to stop this. Seeing what Stephen Jones does and do flips and cartwheels to justify it. Those other 2 guys were traded for a haul and the team they went to reset the wr market.
Amari Cooper in 2020 with backups had 92 reception for over 1100 yards on 130 targets.
We got fleeced due to our Stephen Jones needing to justify moving on from Cooper in the court of public opinion. Understanding that it would hurt his trade value but his ego and reputation was more important.

Here’s a list heading into 2021 that had Cooper at #14. Begin two guys that didn’t play (Ridley and Michael Thomas) and one who’s play fell off the cliff (Julio Jones).

https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-wide-receiver-rankings-32-best-wrs-entering-2021-nfl-season

Coincidentally, two of the top guys listed were just traded. And BOTH had to reset the market at the position. Point is that Cooper should have brought more value than what our bad GM ended up getting.
I think him and Woods were in a similar situation as the new team had to take on their contracts. Yes, they could of gotten more, but not sure how much more.

The Front Office telegraphs their moves to other teams because they cannot stop talking to the media. They're incapable, so the league knows the players can be had without spending premium draft capital.

For example, La'el Collins plays a premier position that numerous teams need badly. Couldn't even get a single pick for him because the FO couldn't put a lid on it. Meanwhile, Case Keenum netted a 7th rounder.

Woods is injured. That’s a HUGE difference.

They certainly could have done better than a 5th rounder. But the owners can’t keep their mouths shut and have to tell the world everything they’re doing.

his money? lol his contract was already reasonable w/ just the kirk and mike williams deals. with what tyreek and tae just signed for amari is practically signed for a song at this point, and all his guaranteed money has already been paid l
And Amari restructured his contract in Cleveland to lower his cap hit.

And Cincinnati signed Collins for virtually the same deal he had in Dallas.

Cooper was traded away and then had his contract re worked to lessen his cap hit

Hill and Adams were traded away and then signed huge market setting deals

There is a reason they got more in return. They got a better player in return. Cooper is not on Adams or Hills level, and its not even close.

But continue to to hate Jerry and Stephen for announcing what everyone already knew. Cooper was getting either cut or traded and replaced with Gallup.
