The tell on Payton will be if he takes a broadcast job. If he does, he has assured them that he will not bolt after one year. Then again, is his word good?

Does anyone here think conversations didn't take place between Gayle Benson, the GM and Payton when Brees retired and Payton wanted to extend a very questionable QB? They already knew they were headed for a cap problem.

Did Payton pull a Bobby Petrino? Petrino was asked by Blank, the owner, on the Sunday before the MNF game if he was still all in and he assured him he was. Later that week he was calling the Hogs in Fayetteville. Seems that loyalty thing that does not exist with the owners and players extends to the coaches.

I just wish we had Payton.

I don't know how anyone can't see how his identical resume to Mike McCarthy would be such a huge upgrade.
Personality matters, Payton would come in with other offers that would allow him to negotiate favorable terms. All coaches hired after Bill had no other offers thus no leverage and accepted all that JJ and JS crap.
It's like Randy Gregory's production. It's undeniable.

Isn’t this where a lot of trades and remaining free agent deals get orchestrated? Seems odd to not be looking forward to see other team coaches and executive in person

He know he's on the way out so he doesn't want to go. Don't blame him.

McCarthy is a kind soul. He probably asked "you want red or green sauce".

He probably heard they’re doing away with the buffet this year. Andy Reid recommended a couple of Fatburger locations to try and change his mind.

He is 100% phoning it in and I can't really blame him.

He's a placeholder for Quinn or Peyton at this point. He knows it just like everyone else knows it.

The HC being zoned out with the roster we have right now I'd say 9 wins would be a miracle.

Exactly! No need to go all out when your general manager basically said he a lame duck.

I stand behind our head coach.

Trust me, I'm back there.

The only things he will miss are the head coaches picture and the media opportunities the coaches are afforded. Tbh, we all know who handles the media in Dallas (hint: they have the same last name and are both bozos) and who cares if he isn't in the commemorative head coaches photo for the 2022 season.

Free agent deals for Dallas? Lol

I’m sure they signed Washington and Fowler and the entire front office high fived and said “this is what we needed! Super bowl bound”

We'll be fine. Win the NFC east. Eagles should get Baker. Not sure why they haven't.

We all know all too well about Jerry and his 'lahltay,"
but the opposite holds true with a grudge.

He sure knows how to hold one and my best guess is he and Mike aren't exactly BFF at the moment, but Mike ain't quitting and throwing away a paycheck.

I'm not saying that Sean Payton is the savior but absent a couple of very deep playoff runs and possibly a championship....McCarthy isn't long for this place.

When you mention Sean Payton please refer to him as Sean "my career resume isn't even an ounce better than Mike McCarthy" Payton.

I don't think he would be the same as McCheese UNLESS Payton pulled another total money grab like McCheese is doing.

Hard for me to picture Payton:
Signing off on Moore.
Bringing along an incompetent DC with him.
Doing Gallagher and Austin Powers team motivation tactics.
Showing an incredibly low Time Management IQ.
Excelling so well in penalties against.
(Just for starters, lol)

And, as having been mentored by Tuna, I just have a hard time picturing Payton being the same as the above.

But I guess some disgusting amount of guaranteed coach's contract money could possibly change him.

For the above reasons and a few others I left out, I do not see Payton the same as McCheese, regardless of similar records.
