Jeebus.

Just a coincidence they aired a ton of commercials about watching the Oscars replay all week long ......... and something "crazy" happens to make people want to watch it.

Yea ....... not buying it.

They always have commercials for the Oscars. It's the Oscars.

Will Smith is probably mad he didn’t hit him harder because Chris Rock was still able to collect himself and crack a joke.

A curious side of me would have liked to see what would have happens if Chris would have dropped an atomic bomb about their Jada’s very public marital infidelity afterwards instead of taking it like a pro. Would they just cut to commercials? I guess we’ll never know.

I was talking about commercials specifically for the Replays.

If the slap was anyone's reason for watching, they could just go to YouTube right now.

I don't think it was staged at all. This isn't the MTV Awards where anyone is expecting or cares to see those sorts of antics.

It wouldn't shock me one bit if it's edited out of the replays.

They would’ve had to cut to a commercial because Will Smith would’ve ran back on stage and it would’ve been a knock down drag out.

There was some force in that slap. Nothing scripted or staged about it. Will Smith was pissed! Go listen to the unedited version on YouTube he’s spewing F bombs. You’re not going to stage something like that and include that type of language on national television. I’m sure he feels pretty embarrassed about it. He then goes on to win the Oscar and all anyone’s going to want to talk about is that incident.

I have a theory that may be completely untrue.

I am under the assumption that Will isn’t doing well mentally. I don’t think that he is ok with he and Jada’s open relationship, and how much she talks about it in public. She has publicly talked about doing the deed with her son’s friends for pete’s sake.

I already thought that, but then during his acceptance speech… something just seems off with him. I have plenty of mental illness in my family, and his manner of speech seemed all too familiar.

Otherwise, he just slapped someone on live TV for making a tasteless joke, which is completely uncalled for. I mean, he could have literally been arrested. Act like a grown man; this isn’t kindergarten.

But I get the feeling there’s more to it than that.

People often do irrational things when they're emotionally hurt and angered.

I don't know if there's a need to dive much more into that. He could be mentally struggling but it seems unlikely we'll ever know unless he makes that his excuse to avoid civil or criminal repercussions.

He should've been thrown out of the building and arrested for assault. It's laughable that he was able to go back to his front row seat and tried to play the "victim" and the "hero." He's a classless, POS.

Comedians are used to being assaulted. I’m sure that’s not the first time Chris Rock has pissed someone off with a joke and got popped. I was friends with Skip Stephenson who was on a show called Real People with Sarah Purcell and Fran Tarkenton. He cracked a joke about a guy sitting in the audience at a comedy club and the dude rushed the stage and punched him several times. Wayne Newton was interviewed a few years ago and told a story about Johnny Carson making gay jokes about him. He went to NBC and told Freddy DeCordova that he wanted to see Johnny alone. He told Johnny Carson that he would kick his ace if the gay jokes don’t stop. I believe Johnny Carson was upset about Newton outbidding him for a hotel in Vegas he was looking to buy.

Lol Will is as soft as I thought he was. He's a walking meme these days.

Dude just gave Chris Rock 22 minutes worth of jokes. The next Netflix special is gonna be lit.

In the uncensored version floating around the internet, after Will yelled “keep my wife’s name out of your ******* mouth”, Chris started to say something along the lines of “well I could have…” and then backtracked. I would have loved to have heard it.

One dead giveaway it's legit is after Will yells to keep her name out of his mouth. Chris says, "I'm going to, okay......though, I could, oh...okay".

He knows he could cut really deep and backs down for the sake of everyone involved.

You’re right, which is why I find it ironic Will Smith, a lifelong comedian, reacts to jokes with violence. Surely he has made jokes at the expense of others before.

Yup, I 1000% agree with you and was saying very similar things to my wife. I think he was/is projecting his built up anger that he has been suppressing for some time now. He went out of his way, on national TV, to try and be the hero husband by feeling like him assualting Rock was a proper way of protecting his wife. In reality, he is feeling that he needs validation and support from others so he can continue to lie to himself that he is truly happy and still in love with her. As if he just proved it the world. I think they are not good for each other and he should bail. The Hollywood glitz and glamor can only protect your happiness for so long until the weight of your unhappiness begins to crack the ice below you.

You should never joke about a medical condition especially involving someone’s family member. It’s going to be interesting to see if Will Smith faces charges. A few years ago Chris Rock made a joke about Will Smith at the Oscars so there appears to be some bad blood between them and it finally boiled over. It’s okay to joke about him but don’t joke about his wife.
