And there's no chance that happens. We will need two or three guys to play like Parsons. We're lucky to even have him!!
They looked at last year's losing team and intentionally made it worse. The Rams looked at last year's super bowl winning team and made it better.
Imagine we run into these guys in the playoffs. How could we possibly compete? Then again, will we even make the playoffs? We should because our division is a garbage pit. But we've done NOTHING to widen the gap between us and them
I don't know what it is. But the one thing is clear is that they have an exaggerated impression of themselves when it comes to drafting.
They fix zero holes in FA. Even when they sign guys - take Fowler and Washington for example - neither is intended to solve a problem. They are just basically warm bodies and fall backs in case they can't land a stud in the draft. But the problem is that each year they have more holes to be fixed via the draft that can actually be reasonably filled. If you get 2 "studs" out of a draft that's a home run. If you get a stud and two good players, that's a win. But if you need to get 4-5 really good players out of a draft that can make immediate impacts, the odds are basically zero that can happen. This team needs another high level starting caliber DE. They clearly need an upgrade at LG. They need a wrecker at DT. They could use another talented LB to allow Parons to move around more. They need a WR, especially if Gallup takes time to get back from injury.
They "solved" zero these positions. Oh they may have signed a body or two, but no one truly fixes a clear issue.
And that's why this team always seems to be a few positions away from having a team that can make a legitimate postseason run.
