Burks, Green, Zion I think are the team's targets at 24

Cowboys have been connected with Treylon Burks since the combine. He offers a very unique skillset, where whoever drafts him, must have a plan how to use him. I like the player, but hate the idea of drafting another 1st receiver in a deep class. However, don't think they pass him if on the board as he should be their highest rated player at a position of need. Believe he is the only top receiver who has a chance to be there at 24.

Odds on favorites would be either top Guard: Green or Zion Johnson, unless a player who they didn't expect falls into their laps like a top 5 Edge or a top Tackle. Tony Pauline said yesterday he is hearing that all the tackles will be scooped up early on and Tyler Smith is going to go much higher then many are projecting. I haven't found anything connecting the Cowboys to Smith.

What about Linderbaum? You have to believe he would be the best player on their board over these 3. Are they looking to replace Biaz or looking to give him legitimate competition at the position? Think Left Guard is the bigger need, but it would be interesting to see who they take if both Guards are also on the board.

Burks is Deebo with speed. Needs 2 work on his routes.

I think it probably depends on GB picking a little before us. If they take Burks then likely we are wiped out of 1st rd WR's. Some think Olave has a chance of being there but I don't see it. Odds are we are taking Green or Zion. That is how it looks to me.

We hear that the team wants to get more physical, Burks brings that at the position. Yes, he needs work on his route running, but has all the physical traits to become a real good player.

Crazy idea in terms of getting more physical.

Bring in better OL and DL.

Last year we rolled into the season with a trio of WRs that was considered one of the better ones in the NFL. It didn't work largely because the OL eventually started to break down and the interior OL wasn't all that great other than Martin. So why in the world would we try it again by taking Burks and not using premium picks on OL? Burks is no better a prospect than say a Green or Linderbaum. But both those guys fill a more important hole right now, especially since Jerry sat out FA in terms of improving OG or OC.

If Burks turned out exactly as you'd hope, you'd have another Dez. I think he lacks Dez's explosiveness and therefore won't be as good in the NFL but that's beside the point. Dak already has shown that he doesn't have much use for a receiver like Dez. He needs guys that get early separation and simply won't throw at a guy who is looking to win 50/50 battles. Why is Burks even in the discussion?

Don't disagree, just reporting what I think they will do based on what I have read or heard. Green is my #1 choice if Penning is off the board. I really like the team to consider a small trade back and draft Travis Jones.

I agree, he has worked better with route runners, but they must see star potential with Burks.

I actually agree with you. Burks is 1st, Green is 2nd, then Zion. The smoke for Burks is growing but I do think the Cowboys would look to trade down if all three are on the board. That is how close I believe it is between the three of them.

The Joneses see Dez and the fact that quality receivers are getting 25+ million. Burks protects them if CeeDee does not agree to sign for a home town discount. The cap really does exist. Just not for the Rams and Saints.

You know my top guy is Green, but do like Burks and wouldn't hate the pick although don't want another 1st rd WR.

The need for WR is at a spot where the usage will mean 50 catch type production. And thats unlikely to change in the next couple years with Lamb and Gallup under contract. There are a bunch of guys on the street right now that can get them 50 catches next year

Agree. After watching SEC highlights on Green, I think he has pro bowl potential. Green is young and still growing.

A possible trade back to 26 through 29 could happen with the pick being Burks or Green. Both could be on the board at 24. I would be ok with the trade back with Dotson as a plan B if Burks and Green are gone.

Green vs. Zion is an interesting comparison if you were to take one or the other. I think Green has All-Pro ability inside and that's his true pro position.

Good with Zion or Green as I see them both as top 30ish talents filling our biggest need.

Hard pass on Burks, he’s a project IMO.

Linderbaum? I don’t know what to think. I have some concerns around length and scheme fit. If you tell me we’re running a zone heavy blocking scheme? I’m in. If it’s going to be more of a power, run it straight at you scheme? Pass.
