We need some tough OL. Multiple. I'm getting tired of seeing our OL get pushed around like some softies.

Martin is tough as nails. La'El was a big loss there. We need a mauler taking over an interior spot.

you will get a player that can sell jerseys, nothing more nothing less

i watched Jalen Ramseys podcast where he talks about how they knew SF was gonna beat dallas. no question. said SF has some dawgs. just gives a perspective of what players around the league see. they see an overrated team with very few dawgs here in dallas

Several SF players said before the playoff game that they intended to physically dominate Dallas. Even with that “bulletin board material” motivator the Cowboys on both sides of the ball got physically whipped all day.

If an opponent mocks you verbally before the game by telling you exactly what they’re going to do, then follows that up and does exactly what they predicted, you’re a really soft team.

So 31 teams in 1992-1993 were really soft teams? Cause what you said Dallas did to everybody those 2 years.

Sorry, I don't subscribe to the "Dallas is a soft team" view. Teams like that don't go 12-5, even if most of those wins were against lower-echelon teams....

They are soft where it counts, at the OL and DL positions. Even mega rookie Parsons with all his pass rush win metrics disappeared when it mattered most. We need to get better at the point of attack on both sides of the ball, drafting a shiny new LB or WR in the first round won't accomplish that.

By now, it’s safe to say that the Dallas Cowboys have for far too long been one of the softest teams in the league. Opponents talk about it, commentators notice it. This team has lacked physical and mental toughness for far too long. We need to address it more directly.

With that in mind, we should be using a lot of premium draft capital on offensive and defensive linemen. Why is that so critical for toughness? Let us count the ways:
  • You can’t be physically tough if you’re getting pushed around. When a team can control the line of scrimmage- on either side of the ball- it can impose its will on the opponent.
  • Finding talent at WR is waaaaaaaay easier than finding talent at most other positions.
  • Unless there’s a WR available with Jerry Rice-like generational talent, avoid another first round WR.
  • By making our trenches more dominant, it builds confidence and mental toughness.
  • You can’t be mentally tough if you know your opponent is beating you on the LOS.
Football is a game of fundamentals at its core. If you can block and tackle your opponents better than they can, you have a great shot at being a tough team. Finesse is good to have too. But it is more of an add in than a fundamental. And it cannot replace brute strength. We need to get some more trench talent in our quest to be tougher.
I’ve been saying this for a while, where have all the men gone. The Charles Haley’s. The Eric Williams. Type players

Every team has "soft" players, Dallas is no exception. But remember back in the 1970s, because of all the offensive line shifts, "gadget" plays that Landry used on occasion, etc. Dallas was labeled a "finesse" team. Somehow they managed to go to 5 SBs and win 2. Players on those teams just laughed when they heard people say they weren't physical teams.

I wouldn't recommend going up to Tyron Smith or Zack Martin or LVE and telling them Dallas isn't winning SBs because "you're soft"

Imho no team can be labeled "soft" simply because it's not one person, it has multiple players. ALL the players would have to be "soft" for that label to be used.

But to each his own...

Those 70s teams were called “finesse” because they had the most innovative schemes and were the MOST prepared team each week. But they were loaded with tough players. Bob Lily, Jethro Pugh, Randy White, Lee Roy Jordan, Cornell Green, Roger Staubach, Rayfield “Big Cat” Wright, Billy Joe DuPree, even Drew Pearson- were all tough as nails.

I would grab a tough veteran FA for the OL, and my first four draft picks would be OL and DL. Then and only then would I go WR, RB, LB, S.
