I'd go a 5th tops if his contract is palatable. Having a speedy guy outside will go a long way and not having to use their top 1-3 picks for a WR will be helpful to fix the trenches

Yeah, I can't figure out the reason teams are always dumping him. He must be some major locker room pariah or something. Maybe his cap hit is too big for his production?

Same w/ Mathieu. Produces everywhere, but no one wants to keep him.
They Don t dump him . . . he has garnered a lot in those trades . its actually the opposite with him . . . teams really wanted him

here we go again you are giving up 2 for this guy we have Lamb and Gallup we don't need to give up a 2 when we can find a Wr3 at 3rd or 4th rounds. All those making a WR a priority is just overthinking. IMHO its not necessary not for what htown might want, that the rumor anyway. I might give up 3rd and a 7th for him but I rather go young and less cap hit.

you all still think we lost our leading wr 1from 2021 and we didnt, that was lamb followed by Schultz and #2 is Gallup..not a huge desperate need IMO.

If this has any truth to it, I can’t figure this organization out?

:banghead:

Only thing I can think of is that they think they need to get faster at WR.

I mean I wouldn't hate (nor would I love it) if they threw like a 6th round pick at the Texans for him. But I think I'd rather spent the cap space on other spots like OG or DT or DE.

Shoot, I'd rather spend it on Tyrann Mathieu.

I will never hold it against a team who is careful handing out the big $ contracts in FA. It seems like the time these players are in their peak prime is very short and typically the big $ contracts are not good investments.

With that being said, it appears Dallas is all over the map in FA. Who knows what is really true and what isn't. But Dallas seems to be bouncing all over the place looking for value. Looking for value is a good strategy but it almost feels like there isn't a plan attached to it. Or at least a well thought out plan. Time will tell. Final grades should not be given until the end of the offseason. But there is a difference with value hunting vs value hunting with a core strategic vision combined.

If this is true, then you just go sign Will Fuller.

He will come on a one year deal. He won't cost ANY draft picks and he won't be angry about not being a #1 guy.

You bring Cooks in, he's going to want paid. Guess who needs paid in a few seasons? Lamb as well

My question is ‘then what’?

Is he just a one year rental? If so, what’s the point?

Or are you then going to pay him even more money after the receiver market just exploded?

Neither of these options make sense to me.

This. I'd take Will Fuller at 7-10 before I trade a high pick for Cooks and extend him.

Aww man. I can't wait to see him traded for peanuts just for us to say we offered a 7th!!!

These are the moves I just dont understand. You have Cooper set at $20 million for this and the next two seasons. So you don't want Cooper at $20 per ... but are interested in Cooks a $16.2? So you trade Cooper for a 5th ... then you're desperate for another receiver. So you likely send a higher pick to pick up Cooks. He then will then want paid again?

I just don't get it

The Cooper trade was not a financial decision. Dallas could've restructured his contract, like Cleveland did.

Jerry criticized Cooper publicly more than once last season and simply wanted him gone.

I would never pay close to that for the totally unreliable Will Fuller. Can’t help the club in the tub.

Only in Dallas. Trade your #1 for pennies .. then overpay to replace.

Hey on the plus, they are looking to do it this season! As opposed to next

Will Fuller has played 31 games in 4 years.

Cooks has played 61 in 4 years.

There's your answer.

And who said anything about high picks for Cooks? I mean I guess he could fetch that but I wouldn't want Dallas paying that. But if he could be had for a later round pick? I'd consider it.

Too much money even for a one year rental. Let the Texans eat his contract as a draft pick in the mid-rounds could easily eat some production vs. spending this much on a guy who is a bit of a culture vampire.

Reports are they want a 2nd.

Nobody is comparing Cooks to Fuller. I’m just not spending a high pick for a one year rental.

If I get Cooks for a 5th or a 6th? No brainer.

It's not out of the question to me (a better run game) .. it will be totally up to how and if we significantly upgrade at OL and blocking TE,.. and if our coaching makes a significant
step up in scheme and design, instead of the plain ole Jane predictable approach.
Possibly, but how do you do outside stuff with Elliott?

Also....Schultz plus a run blocking TE isn't the same as having an every down TE who isn't an embarrassment in the run game.

We are beat for 2022 no matter which OL they take at 24....or how the rest of the backups they draft fall into line.

Keep the draft pick and restructure Cooper’s contract. Problem solved. Not that difficult.
Cooper was a problem. That is why they got rid of him. I can't believe the number of people that don't get it. Getting rid of 3 unreliable knuckleheads isn't a bad thing. Gregory, Collins, and Cooper = Curley, Moe, and Larry.
