Why in the world would you trade a 5th round pick for Cooks when all you got for Cooper was a 5th round pick and Cooper is a much better WR? I'd offer a 7th for Cooks and maybe a 6th but I doubt it.

Because they think he will cost significantly less. There's no way they make the deal and take on his remaining contract. They will take a portion at best. They may try to extend his for a couple if seasons, but I doubt he agrees to anything we offer.

I don't want to give him a second contract, no.

I can say first hand his newly developed foot problem isn't going to improve as he ages.
Lol well apparently running backs come a dime a dozen so clement should be enough

It's a catch 22. When we resign our guys they shut it down and never live up to their contract. At least when we sign a free agent they'll give great effort for at least half the season to prove they are still good. Who's the last great pick up we had - Charles Haley, Dieon?
Cowboys traded for Haley. Jerry signed Deion after desperation losing Kevin Smith, and not winning a Super Bowl with Jimmy Johnson players.

The last great pick up the Cowboys had via trade was Amari Cooper. He took the Cowboys to the playoffs and made the Pro Bowl. The last great pick up as a free agent was Amari Cooper who without Dak had a career-high 92 receptions for 1,114 yards and five touchdowns in 16 games and 15 starts and made the Pro Bowl for the 3rd straight year after resigning with the Arlington Jonesboys.

Aww man. I can't wait to see him traded for peanuts just for us to say we offered a 7th!!!

These are the moves I just dont understand. You have Cooper set at $20 million for this and the next two seasons. So you don't want Cooper at $20 per ... but are interested in Cooks a $16.2? So you trade Cooper for a 5th ... then you're desperate for another receiver. So you likely send a higher pick to pick up Cooks. He then will then want paid again?

I just don't get it
It’s because Cooks is a dog and Amari is considered soft. No doubt in my mind they got rid of Amari for personal reasons to shake locker room up.

So now yall don't like Pollard either lol our fans!
We like pollard as a 3rd down back. It’s a 17 game season now if you think you don’t need 3 starting RBs at least your crazy. Or what was your point here? Last time I heard Pollard had a ligament tear under his foot. Are we supposed to like that?

That idea makes a lot of sense, but probably more along the lines of he pissed off Jerry w the Vax thing.

That in addition to, his contract was structured in a team friendly way. If Elliott would have pulled the same stunt he would still be here.

Cool. Another guy that Dak would drastically under-target. A lack of talent at the WR position HAS NOT been the problem here…

It has not but it will be if we go into the season with only Lamb and Gallup on one leg.

Our "best in the league" offense really hasn't garnered any additional playoff wins. Maybe a change of offensive philosophy will help?

We're not the best in the league offense, by far. I think you know that. It's a statistical anomaly borne through circumstance. But some people in here actually believe it because statistics is God.

The most I would give up for Cooks is a 3rd and a couple of the 5ths Dallas has. Anything more and it's a pass for me; and might as well draft a WR instead,

Having said that Cooks would be an instant starter and would come here around $8 million cheaper than Cooper was.

Cooks will not be a Cowboy. All through FA the Cowboys avoided anyone that might be a significant cap hit, they're not going to make the acception now just because it's a trade. Cooks would be like a 12 million cap hit. Not gonna happen.

You are hired. Then top 3 draft picks are DE, S and LB. That does it?
Not even c,ose Safety umm we resigned Keasr and hooker have wilson and some young guys from previous drafts that could use lots of camp snaps..

DE yes DT/NT/1T yes OL yes

RB mid rounder yes maybe a CB i know KJ will get shot as starter we have brown but if top cb drops to us you take him its BPA truly that aligns with need

exactly makes ZERO sense.i said it earlier ill say it again

we are not desperate for a WR..we also didn't cut AC for low draft pics and 16mil in cap savings to give up higher draft ;picks and 12mil for 1yr guy who will want more money ..

fans have all these fantasy wants without taking real common sense and looking at the situation at hand. they have wr1 =Lamb, WR 2 = Gallup, wr3= Washington you draft a wr to be wr3 and or 4..

i rather bring in a multi tool vet TE..

While I agree with you, it's worth noting the Cowboys now have $15 million of room. And on June 2nd they get the $10 million from cutting Collins; giving them $25 million of space. So if you want to look at it from the standpoint that Collins' money would go to Cooks, that's only a $2 million drop.

Dunno on the S part.

They didn't prioritize it when the cupboard was bare.

Same logic behind not bringing Matthieu in now.

Passed on him more than once when it was a huge need.

If I knew for certain Kearse will keep it up, I'd almost call it a strength. Depth wise anyway.
