You exposed yourself. That you deleted the post speaks volumes, so call me "Jack" or whatever else makes you feel better.

You're a fool and a liar, and you have only yourself to blame for exposing those truths. Enjoy, Batman.

You're the one who said he was driving to the airport.

Do us all a favor and just stop.

Let him yap all he wants, along with those who like his ridiculous comments. Like I said before, I seriously doubt he would talk so rude, condescending and tough in person.

I lost my daughter at 27. It doesn’t matter if they are 40, they are still our children and no parent ever recovers. Time doesn’t heal those wounds. Those wounds are just as fresh today as the day she was murdered. My prayers goes out to his family. They will have a hole in their hearts until the day they leave this world. No parent should ever have to bury their child.

Sorry for your loss, I could not even begin to imagine such a tragedy.
A lady I dated, before I met her, her dad was murdered, and it effects and her family to this day. They never caught who did it.
On another note, her daughter at age 19 committed suicide. Tragedy all around.

Also a friend, his son was murdered at age 18, about 35 years ago. He is still haunted. 3 men did it, 1 just got out of prison, as he was not involved, but was present. He sat in the vehicle, did not know what as going on supposedly. The other 2 probably will not get out. He goes every time they are up for parole. The last 3 times now, they been denied.

when he was hit by a dump truck while walking on a South Florida highway.
Haskins, 24, had been in South Florida to train with other Steelers quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers.

The accident happened around 6:37 a.m. on I-595 West at the I-95 interchange outside Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Haskins was killed in the accident, but officials did not reveal why he was walking on the highway, said Lt. Indiana Miranda, highway patrol
_____
so he wasnt hit by a car, but a dump truck!!
Now they say he was walking on the highway , at first I assumed on the shoulder, but now I wonder if he was out in the lane??
How did the truck driver not see him and did he try to stop? Was dwayne intoxicated? why did he pull over get out and start walking??

It all sounds kinda odd to me.

About gil evidently he lacks the good sense and tact to say the right things about someone who just died.
I think that was the real gil, unfiltered.

I posted a car, because at the time that was all that was reported. Thanks for the bold emphasis...it wasn't like I was saying anything wrong on purpose.
If not for that, I wouldn't respond.

I am so sorry for your loss. Sometimes people post and just hit send and never think about all the human beings out there that read it and the things these people have been through in there lives. People get consumed in there own lives and don’t stop to think what others are dealing with and have been through and are going through. That’s why I dislike the saying “ well, it can’t get no worse”. It most surely can.

No matter what happens to me I never try to act like my brand of suffering is worse than someone else’s.. Prayers are with Haskins friends and family. And yours to jnday..

Just to sum up what we know about this tragedy.

Haskins
  • was in Florida to train with some of his teammates
  • tried, for some unexplained reason, to cross Interstate Highway 595 (near Ft Lauderdale Airpor)t at about 6:37am
  • was hit and killed by a dump truck (the dump truck driver stayed on the scene...so no hit and run)
Any other actual facts?

“Thoughts and prayers, thoughts and prayers”…… many here have used that phrase here and upon introspection I realized that I can never post those two virtuous things. I have to admit that although I believe in a supreme being, I do not pray whatsoever and I must admit that during the course of the next few days,I won’t have the late Mr Haskins in my thoughts.

it’s an honor to be with so many that have that kind of depth. I don’t do any other form of social media and I guess this is one of the reasons why. If you learn something from a catastrophe at least it’s not a total waste.

This post is one of the reasons that some don't like my thinking about death.

He had it coming, just as we all do.

Now, I don't mean that to be callous or mean spirited...it is just the way it is. People die in accidents or other ways right as I'm typing. So, my moral of is, learn right from wrong, stay safe...the rest will happen when it does.

People grieve in different ways.

Wait until Monday.
An update combining the circumstances preceeding the accident with the corresponding timeline should be made public then.

I mentioned this earlier. I worked as a road maintenance employee for 5 years before I went back in the booth. I used to see all of this, clean up debris, and close lanes and roadways.

Nothing odd about this. For whatever reason he was attempting to cross the highway. It was 6:30AM, probably still a bit dark. A truck driver is never going to see him, because it's just not something you're used to seeing. People hit deer without even tapping their breaks it happens so quick.

My Son in law got shot here in va just last month. Two days later his daughter was born. That leaves a mother to raise a daughter with out a father. It leaves a babygirl, who will never know her daddy. It leaves a sweet young lady without her man. Is it to much to ask for people to NOT make Dwayne Haskins tragic death it the story of the day by saying something SO calloused, ignorant, hurtful and just plain dumb? Gil should ****, and if he won't **** he should be made to ****. There is an old american tradition known as not speaking ill of the dead. I learned it. A simple sorry will suffice Gil. The rest of the internet Rambo's get a life

I do pray. Often.

But I have stopped saying "you're in my prayers" because, honestly, many times when I said that, I would forget to pray for the person. So, I wanted to stop appearing "pious" and if that person comes to my mind while I'm praying, I pray for them. If they don't, I won't have lied telling someone I prayed for them when I didn't.

But I do need to pray more for people, even those I don't know. So if I remember his family (I don't pray for the dead) when I'm on my knees, I will say a prayer for them in their time of bereavement and grief.

As a standing policy, I don't rejoice over those who die. I don't care how evil, immoral, "stupid," "deserving" they are. I just find that repulsive. Yet, I see it a lot on social media, people rejoicing over the death of someone.

My rule is consequences speak for themselves. If you're breaking into someone's home and you can shot and killed, I don't have to say, "Ah, ha! He got what he deserved." The consequences speak for themselves. I don't need to rub salt in a dead person's fatal wound. What happened, happened. If he got what he deserved, then let the consequence speak for the both of us.

Truth be told, if you had the same background, life experiences, struggles and desperations others had, you'd more than likely do the same thing. Just be thankful your experiences, upbringing, moral foundation, environment, era in which you were born was different than someone else who met a tragic end.

And get your soul ready for it is appointed unto man once to die then after ....
