The QB Quandary

Would like to see McCarthy work with Moore on making adjustments, I actually think the man brings a lot to the table. Face it we have many here who complain Dak is not a good QB yet in 2 out of 3 years this has been a #1 offense in the NFL. I do think he has to do a better job of adjusting through out the course of a season, needs to improve.

He needs an offense that fits his talents. Keeping what amounts to be basically the Jason Garrett offense is a terrible idea.

I was so excited when they hired MM because I thought that meant he was bringing his offense with him. I was so disappointed.

I agree, the buck stops with him. If he sees things going in a direction he is not liking then he needs to step in. I don't have the dislike of Moore as others do, I see a lot of good things he has done but I also see at times he fails to adjust and it is then that McCarthy should step in. I would say the same with defense. In the end HC is responsible for all aspects of the game.

Ok. I play the game. Brian Broaddus has been hinting that this might be a prove it or lose it year for Dak. He believes this draft will be all about making Dak a better quarterback. If the Cowboys don’t make it to a conference championship game or Dak implodes again in the playoffs, the Cowboys will start looking for Dak’s replacement.

We still got great production out of the QB. But the stats largely lived off the first half of the season.

Did you watch the game? Dak had the ball with 2 minutes to go past mid field, 3 timeouts, 49ers were down Nick Bosa and a touchdown would probably win the game. He failed. That is how you judge a quarterback. It is what it is. Hopefully Dak can win it next year but I guarantee the Joneses have questions. We all saw the AFC playoffs. Those quarterbacks are better then Dak.

This thread is about how do we improve our production at the QB position?
I am curious what concrete solutions other posters have on how we improve the position?
The only rule here is it has to be in the realm of possibility.
So, you can't just say: "cut Dak", it would have to fit the salary cap.
If you can cut Dak and make it work with the cap,
what other player would you bring in that would give us better numbers?

My take is that with the contract Dak has, he is gonna be here awhile.
My solution would be for Mac to redesign the offence into a more West Coast short passing game.
Dak seems to struggle with reading the field, so cut down on the options.

Also invest heavily in the oline with the draft and remaining free agent signings.
Having your center in your lap when you drop back to pass is difficult for any QB to overcome.

If possible go to a more run heavy offense.
We have 2 very good RB's, play to that strength.

I also would love to see Mac in control of the offense/playcalling and not Moore.
Mac's forte is offense and why is making the big bucks.
Let's take advantage of that as well.

umm that not the issue AT ALL

,daks getting 37 tds to 10 ints 4700 plus yards and nearly gettign3 WRs close to 1k yards most years..sure dak cant run this offense lol

the issue is the OL and coupled with no run game does the stretch all the penalties why is this so hard to understand for you..dak didn't forget how to throw from the first half to the 2nd half of the season..what he cant do is constantly have plays called back, pressure in his face, no threat of a run game and penalties that start many drives 1st and 20..its VERY apparent, VERY obvious, yet yes its another dak hate thread..hes not dink and dunker i man our slow average TE had 10+ yard per catch. we see his Comp% and his average per throw etc is way above average. jeez guys stop the nonsense

fix the Ol get run game and we will be back to that team that started the season 7-1..,6-0 win streak etc etc we need some better luck with injuries, covid lists games missed, and what officiating crew we get as well.

those down the stretch issues can point to five other things before QB play comes into question. Sorry
